Yet another BS work story.
I had a doctor appointment first thing Tuesday morning. Let my manager know a few days in advance, whatever.
Friday afternoon during a team meeting, he let me know that our client's new lap dog came to him that morning to ask him if I was OK. No context whatsoever. This alarmed him, so he answered, yes, why? Reply was that I had a lot of doctor appointments. Hint hint.
The thing is, I don't. Other than that appointment and an occasional dentist appointment, I'm always there. I also try to schedule the first or last appointments of the day so I'm not taking off at random intervals. I mean, try to find me a dentist or gyno that works evenings or weekends.
I was PIST. How DARE you insinuate that I'm not allowed to take care of myself you fooking azzhole. It's especially rich coming from a woman who's about to take a month off for foot surgery.
FWIW, my manager ripped into the client's proxy on my behalf. Told him to MYOB and he could report that back to the client.
I'm just floored by that. So what happens if I actually do get sick for an extended period of time? Or pregnant? Am I just supposed to power through or skip the whole prenatal care thing because the client is BSC?
My resume is on the street. I hope to God I find something soon so I can leave dysfunction junction.
Re: So get this shiit
I feel your pain...
My hubs is in Afghanistan. Typically, I get to work at 630am (well before anyone else) and DH usually calls to say hi and we don't spend more than 5 min on the phone.
2 days before Valentines, DH's internet in their compound went out (his phone is a voip phone on his computer). He sent me a text from his cell telling me the phone is out and he will call when he can.
8am VDAY, DH calls. I'm on the phone not even 5 minutes, and coworker is bitching to boss I'm on a personal call....WTF! Made my decision to take another job much easier!
I notified my boss that I was taking time off for an appointment (before he knew I was pregnant) and he starting asking about the appt. "Was this a regular thing or something serious" and stuff like that. I just repeated myself, that I was taking time off for an appointment.
None of your business! I don't know why people think my health is their business. You have to approve my sick time, but that's it (I really do not take that much time off - like you I try to keep my appointments at the beginning or the end of the day so that I can take off less work).
