Disney Cruise

We book our trip on the new Disney Fantasy for this July. We are so excited.  Any advice you could give me about a Disney cruise with a 4 year old would be welcome.  We've cruised RC a few times, but have never traveled with DD before.  This will be our 1st real vacation with DD.

Re: Disney Cruise

  • We are hoping to do the Fantasy this spring or summer, so, I'm jealous! We have done a number of Disney cruises, but don't have children. However, something tells me your DD will love it as will you. I don't know if you plan on enrolling her in any of the children's programs, but there is plenty for adults to do as well as children.  Service and food is top notch.  Once you do a Disney cruise, it is hard to go back to any others that aren't as high quality.

My one recommendation is for your day in Castaway Cay, get off the ship early to get a prime spot.  Plus, it is nice to get some time there before the sun gets too strong especially with a little one.

  • Check out the cruise board on disboard - lots of great advice there!

Some things I read and did for my 5 year old - got a picture mat from craft store, got markers and put them both in a bag - turn it into guest services then they get is signed by characters (you can specify which ones even) and it gets returned to your stateroom prior to the cruise ending.

For things like the adult dining, brunch and character meals on the 7 night cruises - you need to try to register as soon as you can b/c they fill up quickly.  If it does fill before you can book - you should be able to try to make reservations right after you board the ship.

You can get milk and cookies (and Mickey Ice Cream Bars) from room service - make sure you have some $1's b/c you can't charge a tip (room service is free).

My daughter prefered to go hang out at the kids club area then hang out with us (except for when we took her swimming).

you get a discount for booking another cruise when you are online - 10% off and a on board credit (varies depending on cruise).  You can just book for any date while on there (they also only require a 10% deposit) and then just change the date later online, keeping the discount and on board credit.
