Vent: So much work to get house ready to sell!
This is really just a vent, but I need to get it off my chest. DH and I have been feverishly working to get the house ready to go on the market the week of March 5. We are now less than 2 weeks away (yikes), and while all the big projects are done (painting, repairs, etc.), we still have an insane number of small projects! We need to declutter practically every room in the house, which is a lot of work. We need to declutter and clean out every closet. We need to rake the yard and do a little touch up painting on the house. And we have to do all this with 2 small kids running around. I'm a little stressed at this point. DH seems to think we have plenty of time, but I just don't see how we are going to get it all done!
Re: Vent: So much work to get house ready to sell!
I feel your pain! I had an 18' POD come and we hired movers to haul out half our stuff: furniture, toys, clutter, decorations, china, out of season clothes, most of the contents of the basement. (And after we filled up that POD we filled up my mom's basement too!) That way I was able to stage it to go on the market.
We also hired my uncle to come and do some yard work etc, and had a company spread bark dust to get the outside ready.
The weekend before we went on the market I also had a cleaning crew come and clean the whole house.
With DH working full time, and me taking care of two children all day there was no way we could have done it on our own with out going crazy. It would have been an exercise in futility.
GL! I hope all your hard work pays off
Thanks for the encouragement. We had SUCH a productive weekend. The only thing left to clean and de-clutter are a few closets and the basement. I'm so proud of how much DH and I were able to accomplish.
On a side note, we went to visit the only house on the market that we are really interested in, and we are probably going to put in an offer this week (contingent upon the sale of our house, which goes on the market next week). Yikes!
I totally feel you on this! We are in the process of getting ready right now too. In general it doesn't seem like that much. But when you break each thing down it adds up to a lot. Good luck to you. Hopefully we are ready for ours to be listed by the end of March!
