I don't know if this is considered good or not, but I'm feeling like it's BAD. Our house has been on the market a week tomorrow. We had 2 showings - one Tuesday, and one Wednesday. Then nothing. We had a showing scheduled for today but the people backed out at the last second (we were told 10-11, and at 10:30 we got a call while we were out of the house that they weren't coming. Way to start my Sunday, thanks).
I'm feeling so discouraged because everyone I talked to, especially my realtor, said that the first week or so is usually the busiest with showings, etc because it is new on the market.
I asked for feedback and my realtor sought it out. Only had 1 of the 2 realtors return his call to say that their client said our house was too small for them.
I just needed to vent. I want to cry. I know it's been a week but I am probably the most impatient person you could ever meet. And only 2 showings in a week... if that is the busiest activity we will see, then that makes me want to cry even more!!!!!
And until we get an offer on this house, we can't move on in any way. We can't really look at other houses because what point is there? If we can't sell this one, we can't move. I made the mistake of looking at the listings the realtor sends us for the area we want to move to (about 40 minutes north of where we are now). It just makes the desire to get out of here even stronger.
I just wish we had more people coming to look. Then at least I'd know we had enough appeal to bring them in. I want more feedback. I hope we're not stuck sitting on the market for the next 12+ months.
Re: I'm feeling discouraged. 1 week on the market, only 2 showings.
Uhm, I don't know about your house situation (I'm sorry it's so discouraging) but look at your TICKER. Holy wow, woman. Congratulations!!!! What an awesome accomplishment.
I don't think you're crazy at all for being so emotional. I can't tell you how irrational and crazy I've been through the house hunting process. It's such a personal thing that I think it's inevitable.
Has your agent given you a sense of average days on the market for your area and done a good analysis of the other comps on the market? Your house is GORGEOUS but if there are larger homes on the market that are priced close to yours you might have an issue. I love the cape cods and bungalows that come on the market in our area, but we want to have a family and we know that we'll outgrow anything under 2000 sq ft.
Good luck and hang in there!
I agree with PP that the house buying and selling processes are emotionally involving, so I can understand why you feel discouraged. However, I agree that I wouldn't panic and be discouraged at this point. This is still in a slower time of the year. Also, the right buyer will definitely come along at the right price. I know we have looked at some houses that have been on the market for months that were great houses and eventually did get snatched up. The right buyer is out there, but they may need some time to find you. Also, it may just be that since we are still in the tail end of the slower season, interest and showings will pick up in March.
GL!
We're in the same boat. After about 2.5 weeks on the market we've only had 4 showings total. We've held two open houses that have been a real flop with no serious buyers. We're going to give ours till May 1st and see what happens. If we don't get any legitimate offers or increased interest we're going to take it off and try again next Spring.
It's definetely a very emotional process and not for the weak. I wish you luck. Hopefully you'll have some more interest this week and maybe things will pick up as the weather gets nicer.
May 1 seems awfully soon to pull the listing to me. That isn't even into what is considered prime season here, which is after school is out. People who want to move during the summer months may not even start looking until around May 1.
I'm sorry, that would be frustrating! Can your agent do a realtors' open? That is how our process started, the very first day on the market they hosted an open and we had about 20 groups in on that day alone.
Also do you think that the house needs help in the staging, etc? Can your realtor help you with that or recommend someone who can stage it to help in the marketing photos, etc?
GL! It is totally aggravating being on the market!
