Skylar just got done taking a babysitting class through the Red Cross. She has already babysat for a couple families, her nephew is one and a friend of mine. Kael is 14 months old and the other boy is 4 years old.
Now, here is where we want the input. She wants to put together a "babysitting bag". She wants to do a minor first aid kit with bandaids, neosporin and a mini ice pack. Any other items you think of would be appreciated.
Then she has coloring books, crayon roll-ups that I have made and a "report card" for the child that night.
Keegan (the other little boy) is in an afraid of monsters stage, so she took a spray bottle and decorated it with stickers and markers and made Monster B Gone spray. That way if he is afraid of monsters, she can "spray them away"
What else could she put in it? She wants little activities that if the child gets bored with toys, she can pull something out of her bag.
Re: "babysitting bag" input
stickers are good
I've been buying the grab & go play packs for about a $1 each. I've gotten them at Michaels, Jo Anns, and in the Target dollar aisle. They've got crayons, stickers & a coloring book in them. boy & girl styles are available (my girls love all of them, but some boys may not want to color princesses)
Oh yes, those things are awesome! Great for when you need them to behave.
I know that JoAnn's sometimes has those wooden kits you can paint in the 2/$5 section. For like masks and stuff. Maybe those?

On a side note... as a nanny I always keep a spare change of clothes with me in case something happens. (Children are messy!)
And I love the idea of the monster b gone spray!
What a great idea! I don't have anything else to add. I just wanted to say how much I love that she's doing this.
Also, her babysitting bag reminds of the kits that the girls in the Babysitters Club books had.
The Monster Spray is a really cute idea, I've never heard of this before. What about some type of little toys or treats (parent approved, of course) to use as a reward for good behaviors?
A PP said a change of clothes, but maybe an apron? Even kid sized ones would be handy if she plans any painting or messy projects. If so, also a bag to put them in when they're done until she can wash them.
Sounds like she will be a great little babysitter. You should be proud!
