Post oscars red carpet discussion
Re: Post oscars red carpet discussion
My faves:
#1 Michelle Williams: Love the color, texture, ruching, and pixie cut
#2 Ellie Kemper: Didn't know of her but love the color on her skintone
#3 Jessica Chastain: Not the best pic but love the details and the gold on black. Love that she kept the hair soft.
#4 Gwyneth Paltrow: I know a lot hated the cape but I thought it was unique and sleek:
Least faves:
Viola Davis: Love her; hate the orange hair (love the natural style), hate the tailoring/seaming on the unflattering dress (love the color)
Shailene Woodley: Old and fug
Rooney Mara: The bangs that take up half her head, the ears, the brows. She looks like a Vulcan ghost
Emma Stone: I know most loved this and I love Emma but I thought this looked old for her, was the wrong color for the red carpet and her red hair, and looked like a bad copy of Nicole Kidman from a few years ago.
Favorites: Kristen Wiig, Octavia Spencer, Jessica Chastain, Rooney Mara, Ellie Kemper
Least Favorites: Anna Faris, Judy Greer, Wendy McClendon Covey

brass and ballet flats
I think Ellie Kemper was my favorite with Jessica Chastain being a close second. I liked Kristen Wiig's dress a lot as well.
Not a fantastic pic, but I loved penelope as well
I feel like Penelope Cruz always looked good (though I find her fug) but the same.
ETA: Am I the only one who thought Wiig looked like a rumpled mess?
Sandra Bullock, eugh:
Gwenyth, yes. It looks so sleek. A little futuristic, but I'll overlook that.
Cameron Diaz, YES. She looks so glamorous.
Meryl, is this a joke? She looks like she's wrapped in curtains she found at a stripclub. No. No no no.
Whoever this chick is, she looks like she escaped from a wedding in 1985.
JLo looks like an extra from Captain EO
Emma Stone, I could be on board with this if it weren't for that neck ... thing.
Oh Sherri Shepherd, no. This is straight out of the Mother of the Bride section at JCPenney.
I thought Sarah Hyland looked lovely and age-appropriate.
LOVE this color on whoever this is
(Posting now because this is getting LONG)
Husbands should be like Kleenex: Soft, strong, and disposable.
Octavia Smith has got this awards thing DOWN.
Kata Mara ruined a lovely dress with her sour puss and her slumping shoulders
I like the fabric of Busy Phillips' dress, but not the cut. Or those shoes with it.
I like everything about Michelle Williams' dress but the waist ruffle thing.
I wasn't sure what to think about Esperanza Starling, but I think I've settled on "love everything about the look."
Another one with the strip club curtains.
I don't like this thing up the middle of Judy Greer's dress. It looks like a zipper.
This chick needs a better bra. And WTF was up the all of the futuristic-looking dresses? It's like half of them got lost on their way to a Star Trek Prom.
This lady looks like she was on her way to a Mary Kay demonstration.

Sorry I posted this and ran, I had a half written post but almost missed my ferry. And then I've been swamped with work. Just had to hop on for a little break.
Of the "ladies of a certain age" set, I thought Glenn Close looked the best. Did not like Meryl's at all, and I think Jane Seymour is a little too old to pull off the slinky shiny red number she had on.
I loved Michelle, Ellie and Emma. Did not like Kristen Wiig. I'm so over the flesh tone red carpet gown. I was loving the color on parade last night. Thought Sandra's look was too matronly. Loved Gwenyth without the cape. The cape was just weird, and not in a good way.
Mucho likes purple nails and purple cupcakes
I feel like Sandra has alien tentacles creeping toward an area tentacles should never go.
Sherri Shepard looks better than Melissa McCarthy though, no?
Meryl isn't good but it's not her worst. She needs to pay any money necessary to steal Helen Mirren's stylist.
Husbands should be like Kleenex: Soft, strong, and disposable.
It just looks cheap. Like something you could pick up in the Sear Prom Section
A page I follow just posted this, asking who pulled off the white dress best:
Too many people have said that space cadet on the left there looked "understated and elegant." WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE??
My vote is for Cameron Diaz, though.

Gwyneth gets my vote too. Cameron's read as pale gold on my tv. And I hate her tendency to do the messy hair.
The commentators seem all over the board. Everyone seems to have made best AND worst dressed lists. Case in point: Rooney Mara. Some people love it; some hated it. I think it is the worst of the worst.
I say Gwenneth.
I think Rooney Mara's bangs/face look worked for her, though it's not something I'd do myself. I do think she's too pale for a white dress, though. And that's saying a lot, coming from me. The entire top just blends in with her skin.

Why wasn't Milla Jovovich included in the white dress line-up? I can't stand her, but this dress is fab:
