Stolen from P&CE, Gay H/C

http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2012/02/27/147501640/gay-marines-homecoming-kiss-is-lighting-up-the-web?sc=fb&cc=fp

This makes me tear up because I'm thinking of the decades of partners who had to wait at home when their SM came home, or go to H/C and be super fake. H comes home in a while, and I couldn't imagine having to pretend I wasn't crazy in love with him.

I'm against the jumping on someone's waist and legs wrapped thing in public because I'm a prude, but I'm against that for all. It's one of my least favorite things about H/Cs.

I've seen a lot of military surprise homecomings. It wouldn't work on me. I always have my back to the corner and my face to the door. Looking for terrorists, criminals, various other threats, and husbands.

  • Good for them!  I'm so relieved that DADT is gone and everyone is allowed to be "themselves".

  • I saw this on BNOTB and melted a little plus got a little teary, just like all homecomings.

I agree with Sgt M's wife, this is one big reason I am glad DADT was repealed.

  • The over-the-top PDA bothers me with everyone as well.

..but, love is love and this was sweet.  Definitely glad to see DADT repealed.

  • It's awesome... and yet I cringed.  I think my record of being a straight ally is quite strong, so it's not an "eww, gay" reaction.  It's b/c jumping up and wrapping your legs around someone is the girl thing to do.  I can hear the homophobes in my head saying "See?  Someone always has to be the woman.  Look at the gayz redefining gender roles"

When I lived with a gay couple, my dad would ask who was the woman.  I'm like, neither.  They're both male.  That's why it's a gay relationship.  Ugh.

But, still, I love that DADT was repealed.  It was a blight on our nation.  I love the love these 2 people show.  I love everything about it.  I just can't turn off expecting the awful commentary.

This.  Especially the part about the commentary that is sure to come.  I feel like there is going to be a lot of dumb mofos spouting off at the mouth over this.

    Shot first, questions later.
  • And so begins the debate on FB......

  • Debate on your wall?  Or on the picture's comments?

Are they at k-bay?  Is he wearing a lei?  I don't know why, but I'd think it cool if this was from where I'm now living.

On my wall. My ILs are super conservative but typically don't say anything. They decided to today.

And he is wearing a lei but it doesn't say where they're at.

ETA - I got the "I'm not trying to start a debate, I just don't agree with it." Then why say anything? ::head desk ::

Yeah, maybe not but, just by saying that you did! So, be prepared for people to treat it like a debate.

And I agree with Stan on the out there PDA. I'm sure DH would be all happy to see me and everything but he wouldn't want me to knock him over or anything. Not only that but in the picture it's the service member doing the bowling over. I'd be doomed!

  • BLT, I went to go "not" debate with your inlaws and was sad I could not.

  • Here's another.I don't think anyone can say this is too much PDA.  I'm not trying to start a debate, but I think bigoted homophobes shouldn't be allowed out in public.

And that's why I took it down. LOL. I have many friends(you included) that would debate with her. And the last time that happened, MH and MIL got into it. Didn't want to deal with that again.
