Water belt

I went this weekend to Dicks to get one and I was lost. I know this should be a simple item to pick out but when I realized how much they were I didn't want to make a bad choice. I didn't buy one and I'm hoping to go to the running store and maybe they can help me pick one out and have a few more options.

What belt to you have and why do you like it?

Re: Water belt

  • i have one by nathan, it holds two bottles and has a pouch on the front and a small one on the fastener.  it's good, but sometimes i wish i'd opted for the 4-bottle version.  on long runs i need extra water.

  • I have two of them, a Nathan Speed 2, which holds (2) 10oz bottles and has a pouch, and a Fuel Belt brand one that holds (4) 8oz. bottles.  I bought the 2 bottle one before I decided to do any full marathons.

I like them both.  They took a couple of runs to get used to, but I like having my own water, it's like a security blanket for me.

I have the Nathan 2 bottle one as well.  It usually gets me through a half marathon ok (at least the training runs, sometimes I stop at the last water stop during the actual race).  I love it because the pouch is big enough to hold my ID, cell phone, tissues and sports beans, but it doesn't feel clunky or slow me down.

  • I have 3; 1- 2 bottle Fuel Belt, 1- 4bottle Fuel Belt and 1- 2 bottle Nathan belt.  I used to wear my 2 bottle FB all the time, but now that I am pregnant I wear the Nathan since it is a large size.  I can wear it above my belly or below my belly.

  • I have a 2 bottle (8 oz) Fuel Belt.  I wish I had the 4 bottle as well, on my long runs I would prefer more water (I generally hide an extra water bottle along the route I run as well).
  • I have the Nathan Elite 1 Plus.

  • Nathan Speed 2 is great for me. I like the size of the bottles and the width/stretch of the belt itself. The velcro closure is easier IMO than a buckle. I've trained for two full marathons with it, and numerous halfs/smaller races. It's not something I bring with me to a race unless I *really* don't care for the beverage on-course. Done it once.
