How long until you sold your ring?

I think I'm ready to sell mine after 3 months.

The day I left was just my beginning.

Re: How long until you sold your ring?

  • I'm wondering too. It's been two months since we decided on divorce. At first,  was going to make my e-ring into a necklace. But, now I don't even like my rings! I will sell them once the divorce is finalized which is in about two months. I know I read on here that you get around a 1/3 of what you paid for them. Breaks my heart!

  • I don't have my wedding band (he kept it - don't ask), but I have my engagement band and I've been thinking of selling it more frequently lately. I'll probably do it sometime in March.

  • My jeweler has been holding mine since October.  She's trying to sell it back on the wholesale market or directly to a buyer.  I had a big ring so it's taking a while to sell.  Fingers crossed it sells soon so I can move out!

  • I had mine on consignment for six months and it did not sell

I took it to 2 jewelers before I decided to consign it though and they both offered me $1,000.  Not sure what I am waiting for now, it's been over two years since I left.  Guess it's just general procrastination.

  • I sold mine after 10 months, 4 months after the divorce was officially finalized.  I needed the money and I had no desire to keep them to make something else.  That being said I did get probably about 1/3 of their value if that.  But then again EXH is full of it so who knows how much he paid.  I wouldnt have been shocked had the thing not been a diamond.  :)
  • I still have mine, left a year and half ago, divorce final almost a year. They won't be worth much if I sell them, so I'm keeping them for my niece. When she graduates high school I'm making her a piece of jewelry out of them.
  • I sold mine in December, almost 2 years after we separated.

  • I lost my wedding band around the time we separated (not on purpose) and I still haven't done anything w/ my e-ring. I was ready to sell it as soon as we separated, but I knew I'd get jack squat for it so I haven't done anything yet. But I don't want to turn it into other jewelry either. Right now it's just sitting in a jewelry box with a bunch of other stuff I never wear.  I'm just being lazy about it.
  • Thank you for reminding me that I still need to give him my e-ring back.  The stones were family heirlooms, so I told him that I didn't feel right keeping it.  Clearly, this isn't really on either one of our radars, as we've been separated since May 2010 and divorced since October.  I do need to do that, though.

I'm keeping my wedding band, and I have no plans to sell it, nor do I have plans to wear it.  But it's a beautiful eternity band, and I don't have bad memories of my marriage, so I figured hanging on to it was the right thing.

So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.

  • Sold mine about a year after the divorce was final.

  • i'm still trying to sell it (divorce was final in June), mainly because i want to take it to this local place that will buy jewelry and see what they will offer, i know if i take it back to where i got it, they will give me 2600 (what we paid for it) in store credit and they will quote me a price on what they will pay to buy it back, but i don't really want to drive to philly so i want to see what this other place has to say first.
  • He tried to argue that he should get the ring back, so I waited until the divorce was fairly final. I got $1,500 for my E ring at an antique store ( I needed to pay a bill off ), and I waited to sell the wedding band since no store would buy it. I struck gold and got a couple on CL to buy it for $800 :)

If I had time on my side, I would have tried the consignment route.

  • Mine has been on consignment with the jeweler XH bought it from. The jeweler is only selling the diamond and said he will get about 2200-2500 for it. If we were to sell it anywhere else, it would be about $900. It's been there since the fall, so who knows!
