I know this was done a few weeks back, but I can't find the post. My family and I are going to Austin TX in June and are going to sitesee the first night/day there. What are some good restaurants, decently priced to go to? And what are points of interest? Thanks in advance ladies!
Re: Tell Me About Austin TX
my currently-reading shelf:
Amy's Ice Cream (I'm not biased).
Salt Lick BBQ - ask for some of the brisket 'wet' (it's super duper fatty and worth at least a nibble) The brisket. Always get the brisket. The sausage here is ok and the ribs are ok, but the brisket is tasty. Esp. with their sauce. Our friend from Austin always brings us up a freezer-packed brisket when he comes up for Thanksgiving.
Franklin's BBQ - deemed one of the top 100 restaurants in the US midst all these Michelin star places. It's a little outside of Austin though and you have to be in the mood for bbq at like 9AM cause they sell out by noon.
Mozart's Cafe - it's a local coffee roaster place, but beyond that they have some really great desserts and are situated right next to the water so it's a really nice place to be at night.
Flip Happy Crepes - try the cuban crepe. SO FREAKING GOOD. I think they were featured on FoodTV at some point in a smack down against Tyler Florence and won.
I wish I remembered the 4 days I spent in Austin so I could be helpful. Alas, all I can tell you is to not drink yourself stupid for 4 days straight in Austin.
