Poll: Where should we go in the Caribbean?

It's our 5 year anniversary this summer and we've narrowed our possibilities down, but are having trouble deciding on the final place.

Wants for this trip:

1. Park it on the beach and relax

2. A couple excursions to see the local sights

3. Good food

4. An awesome place for our anniversary dinner

So tell us where we should go. Any comments, feedback, advice, etc. is much appreciated also.

Re: Poll: Where should we go in the Caribbean?

  • I would rule out Key West, it is not a park yourself on the beach place.

Totally disagree. DH and I went to St Thomas 2 weeks ago and thought it was great. We stayed at frenchmans reef which is really nice and we'd reccommend. (if u go off the resorthe here the islanders live it is ghettoish, but the resort was good)

I wouldn't spend my vacation in St. Thomas no matter how nice the resort is. There are much better places on your list.

  • Amazing food in San Juan.  Plus, there's more to do than just a beach if you get bored of it.  It's a much more cultural experience than the VIs.

I would love to go to Curacao at some point, but it's a lot more difficult to get to.  Honestly, if I was going that far, I'd just go to Bonaire and dive the whole time.

  • I'd go to Aruba.  It fits everything on your list.

I've been everywhere on your list besides St Croix, and I'd pick San Juan.

  • It's not quite as 'exotic' as the places on your list, but would you consider Secrets Maroma Beach in Riveria Maya?  If you haven't been, you could go to Tulum and Mayan Ruins for local excursions.

We went there on our HM, or it would be on our list.

    I see you have a bullie - we do, too! S/he's a cutie! :)

  • Yes, St. Thomas can be a little sketchy....but St. John is amazing!  It's just a quick ferry ride over from St. Thomas.

I agree! St. John was awesome, and fits all of your qualifications.
