OMG! how ironic!!! Are you guys sailing on the Destiny? Are you guys flying in and going straight on the cruise or are you staying in florida for a few days? If so where are you guys staying?... I have been in crazy vaca mode with the transportation situation lol trying to figure out the most affordable practical way. So far this is what my crazy scheme has come up with ..... Flying into FLL pick up car at FLL airport, staying for 2 nights prior to cruise near MIA. Dropping off the rental car at MIA. Hotel I picked offers free shuttle to the port of miami. On the way back we come in on a thurs but do not fly out until Fri morning. So we take a cab back to MIA pick up a car again and then drop off the next day at FLL upon departure. I know it sounds kind of crazy the second half but its the same price to do that as it was for the shuttle per person back to the airport- so it will be nice to be able to have another night in the city without feeling stranded lol

It sounds like you have a great plan!  We are sailing on the Destiny.  I was a bit hesitent to begin with because it is one of the oldest boats.  But I figure it will still be a good time!  We have a bit of a rushed schedule, but I think it will work out (as long as the weather cooperates!)  We fly from DTW to MIA on Friday.  We're all working a full day on Friday, so we might be cutting it a bit close.  Our flight leaves at 7:35, so I think we'll be okay.  We're taking a shuttle from MIA to the crowne plaza at the airport (DH is a platinum Holiday Inn Rewards customer, so we're staying for free!!! Woo hoo!).  Saturday morning we'll take the shuttle back to the airport, where we have payed for a shuttle to the port.  (I know that sounds a little crazy, but we payed for it before we figured out our hotel arrangements.)  We sail out Saturday, come back Thursay then we are staying for two more nights at the crowne plaza on South Beach!  It should be a great time!

Honestly, I'm really glad we have at least a night extra in Miami, on each end of the cruise.  I hate the feeling of rushing around.  The only thing we'll be rushed at is getting from work to the first flight.  But even that should be fine.  (Again, as long as the weather cooperates.)

Have you thought much about your excursions?  LawyerLindsey posted some great photos a few days ago from the same trip.  She gave some great suggestions.  Here is the link!  Link Smile

FREE HOTEL!!! that is AWESOME!! sounds like a great place too! I know I planned the trip and then I gave the dates to DH to make sure he requests them off of work and he looks at me and was like wait I thought this was a 5 day cruise, why is this 8 days?... I said, well you did not expect us to go back to miami and not stay did u? lol... we have been there twice soo far. Once when we went on another cruise to keys and cozumel and another when we stayed a week in a timeshare trial we bought. Since then we love love love it! Have you ever been to Miami/south beach? I know I did not realize until after we booked this was one of the older ships. But it did go through an entire refurbish I believe in 08. Awww to bad we are sailing at different times- we could have been cruise buddies! hehe....I am not sure if you and DH have children or not but we have a soon to be 19 month old daughter. So this is a family trip for us. Because she is so little we are limited to, alot of adventurous excursions. I know we looked them over and are for sure going to do a beach excursions at one of them- the last cruise we took we did not do a beach excursion and regretted it - so I do know that for sure we will be doing that. I believe the one we are strongly leaning towards is the "All inclusive Tiki Beach/ seven mile beach getaway", we have not decided on anything else yet. How about you guys? thanks! I will take a peak at this link!
