We're heading to Belize in a few weeks and thought it'd be fun to get an underwater camera. Any recommendations for an inexpensive underwater camera? Probably something under $100, as it'd likely only get used for our underwater photo-taking. We have a DSLR for dry photography. I've heard the disposable ones are pretty bad.
Or are there inexpensive options for making a DSLR waterproof? Although, that idea makes me nervous just in case it leaked and the camera and lens were ruined.
Re: Underwater camera?
If you have a point and shoot, this is a great option:

I got one last year and used it a number of times in Hawaii. It worked out really well, and didn't leak at all.
I don't know that there are any good options for waterproof cameras under $100. If you don't have a point and shoot, it might be worth buying a decently priced one, and the above waterproof case.
Based on the online reviews and reviews of our friends, we just bought the Olympus TOUGH. The pictures at night aren't fantastic but we really just wanted the camera to shoot underwater photos and video during snorkeling and skydiving. I believe there are quite a few YouTube videos shot with this camera - the videos are fantastic!
We have two Olympus toughs and BOTH leaked the second time out in the water.
I had one repaired ( the other was out of warranty when it leaked) and we will see how it does on our upcoming trip.
Needless to say, I DO NOT recommend the Olympus.

So this really worked? We are going to Cancun in May and will be going snorkling I'm sure and I'd like something better then the disposables.
I used to love my olympus stylus. We bought a brand new one right before our honeymoon. It died while I was snorkeling the 2nd day.
I'm hoping it was a one-off situation though. I've had the Tough line for the last 8 years (I'm on my 3rd camera) and they are rugged little buggers
