Just from reading online and on threads here, many people say to not do dairy (instead drinking soy milk or rice milk)- can I ask why that is?
Also- I have read quite a few threads that people prefer to eat Greek yogurt. I low Greek yogurt for its thick consistency but so many of them are high in carbs. Does Greek yogurt have better nutritional value than regular yogurt (other than high in protein)?
I usually purchase Kroger's carb master yogurt, which is low in fat, high in protein, and low in sugar.... But it is also not "Greek" yogurt either. Just wanted to get some clarification...
Re: Diet- Dairy questions...
It comes down to personal preference. Those that eat paleo usually don't eat dairy. I don't eat Paleo. I believe in a well balanced diet with food from all of the food groups, eating as "cleanly" as possible, and watching portion size.
I'll add that people who are lactose intolerant or are allergic to the proteins in milk/dairy will not eat it for health reasons. Vegans do not eat dairy because of their personal beliefs, and some people will not eat it for ethical reasons.
Greek yogurt can be high in carbs, but carbs are NOT bad for you despite what people say (ask a registered dietitian or your doctor). Your brain needs carbs to survive. You might want to watch the sugar in some Greek yogurts. If so, buy plain Greek yogurt and add fruit or a sweetner like Stevia. I can't comment on the Kroger yogurt b/c I hate most of the Kroger yogurts. For Greek yogurt, I really like Fage and Chobani. Oikos and Liberte' are also decent but higher in sugar.

I use unsweetened almond milk in my oatmeal and smoothies because it has fewer calories than regular milk and I can't taste a difference. I'd rather use the calories on something else.
I eat Greek yogurt because it is more filling than regular yogurt.

I'm one of the people who is not anti-dairy. I believe everything in moderation.
I buy low-fat Organic milk and greek yogurt, too. I like the yogurt because of the texture, high protein, it has probiotics and doesn't have usually doesn't haveartificial flavors (depends on the brand since there are so many copycat companies trying to make money) .
