Spirit Airline free carry on bag

Has anyone found a bag that fits their ridiculous requirements.

It's free for personal items and there is a charge for carry-on. A regular sized backpack should be within the specified size for personal items. It is the same for other airlines too. My H and I recently went to Vegas from DFW for 2 nights for $38 pp r/t on Spirit and we each packed a backpack. I stuffed my purse inside also, just in case, but they weren't very strict about that. I think you could do a tote too but it's hard to find one that zips up. Also, when you get on the plane, they weren't strict about making you put the item under the seat. You can put it in the overhead bin. Just pack light! If you need to, then you can check luggage.

I don't know of any other airlines that charge for carry on. A back pack won't be enough, I think I'm going to order this bag for my mom. I rather own the bag then pay the airline $70 for a carry on bag.

That's how Spirit makes up for its "low fares," by nickel and dime-ing you on everything else. It's a pretty crappy airline that's detested by 99% of this board.

That bag you linked looks smaller than a backpack, so I'm not sure how much help it's going to be. I don't understand your statement about "rather own the bag then [sic] pay the airline $70 for a carry on bag." Either way, you own the bag.

Only my purse & laptop.

Spirit is awful. Take their fare, add up all the extras -- seat charges, bag fees etc. Round up by at least 10% now take that number & compare it to other airlines & you will discover that they are all about the same price.

Spirit is no bargain.

Yeah, my backpack has the same dimensions as that bag. You do not have to buy a special bag unless you plan on flying Spirit a lot. They nickel and dime you but you should know that before you buy. I definitely think it is a bargain if you just want to get from point A to B with little luggage. Also, the seat fees are a little like SW-as in unnecessary. If you check in online 24 hours early, you will more than likely get seats next together.

There's no carry on fee for this bag, it was made to fit their requirement. I saw on another site that you can actually fit a good amount of clothes in their, I can't find the link now

Yes, but as PP said a regular backpack is about the same size and I bet I could fit more into the backpack. If you're worried that a backpack won't fit everything you need, I don't see how this suitcase will help. Basically, you need something that will fit under the seat in front of you.

It just seems like a waste to buy a specific Spirit-compliant suitcase, unless you plan on using the airline regularly.
