Cell phone Companies

Which company do you have?

How is the customer service?

How is the service over all?

How is the price?

I'm asking because Verizon is pisssssssssing me off to no end. I keep having issues with my phone and they're only giving me a Certified Replacement so its refurbished. Which is bullshiit. I was on the phone with them and the guy made me feel like an idiot. He wouldn't listen to me and eventually hung up on me. I've already reported them to the BBB and am waiting to see what they're willing to do for me.

Re: Cell phone Companies

  • Which company do you have? AT&T

How is the customer service? Pretty good

How is the service over all? It's OK. MH gets dropped calls a lot, and the service in rural areas is kind of shoddy. Of course, by rural area I'm referring to where we hunt, which is 50 miles from the US/Mexico border, lol.

How is the price? I think it's way too expensive. Here's my plan:

$39.99 for 450 anytime minutes, 5000 night/weekend minutes and unlimited mobile to mobile (the most basic calling plan they offer)

$25 for a 2GB data plan for the iPhone

And then they add on about $10 in taxes and other bs fees so my bill is usually $75/month.  Notice that I don't have a texting plan? I use Textfree, a free texting app... the only thing is that people have to text me at a different number than they call me at but otherwise it's definitely the way to go.

  • Which company do you have? Verizon

How is the customer service? Never had a problem with them. They called me recently to tell me there was a new plan that's cheaper than what I had before, and they switched me without me having to renew my contract.

How is the service over all? Never had a problem. I've been with them since 1999 and can't remember the last time I had no service or dropped a call.

How is the price? $140/month for two smartphones w/ 700 minutes, unlimited data and texting.

  • Which company do you have? TMobile

How is the customer service? Excellent.   I have never actually had anyone be rude to me yet.

How is the service over all? Spotty only in certain areas but overall VERY good.  A lot better than years ago when I had AT&T

How is the price? no data plan for us, but we pay less than $100 for talk/text for 2 phones.

  • Which company do you have? T-Mobile

How is the customer service? Really good!

How is the service over all? Spotty in rural areas, but awesome in cities.

How is the price? A little more than I'd like to pay, but doable.

  • Which company do you have? TMobile

How is the customer service? I do like their customer service, they are nice are never rude and are really willing to work with you if you have to move a bill due date.  (this does not apply to the store clerks, this is only phone customer service)

How is the service over all? I am not happy with it.  I get dropped calls all the time.  My phone is not worth what we paid for it, they mess up all the time.  The people in the store have lied to me on more than one occasion

How is the price? I am not happy with how much we pay, I think we pay too much.

BTW: I can't stand verizon.  They were rude to me on the phone and in the store.  They tried to push me to renew my contract.  They were rude when my phone broke and refused to replace it, and I went all the way to management with this one.  I didn't like their plans and up until I actually left them, they didn't seem to care that I was unhappy, then they called me for weeks trying to bribe me to come back.  My family had them for 7 years.  That was 7 years to long.

Which company do you have? Sprint

How is the customer service? Meh...depending on which one I go to, pretty good. One or two of the locations there is a very clear language barrier. On the phone, pretty good.

How is the service over all? Good, I never really have had a problem.

How is the price? meh less than $150 for both my husband and I who have unlimited calls/texts/and data.

  • I can tell you with absolute certainty that replacing phones with refurbished phones is a common practice among cell phone providers.

I can also tell you that Verizon and At&t are pretty much identical in every way when it comes to cost/warranty/and contract terms.

    That's seriously awesome.

I understand the first part. It's just frustrating. Especially when they try to tell me its not a known issue when every review I've seen everyone's had this issue.

I pay $175 a month (that's with a discount) for two lines, 700 minutes, 2 GB of data and unlimited messaging for 2 smart phones.

Sprint is $140 for both of us

    AT&T would be about $190.

Only problem..the $350 cancellation fee for my phone and $350 for H's phone.

  • Which company do you have? Sprint.

How is the customer service? Setting it up took a while, I think the girl was new, but everyone I've dealt with has been pretty nice.

How is the service over all? It was GREAT in Houston! Now that I'm in Utah, it's shoddy some places, but part of that is due to me having to drive through canyons, and living pretty far out in the country.

How is the price? Less than AT&T was for me... I pay about $75/mo. I get 450 minutes (but free nights/weekends AND mobile to mobile. I barely use my minutes!) unlimited text, and data.

  • I have Tmobile and have never had a problem with them or their service. They basically have coverage all over the US and I have never had a problem with a dropped call. For 3 lines with unlimited calling, texting, and data plan, out bill is $170 (and that's with the discount of where I work at, taxes, etc.). I rave about them.

I know it's frustrating but even if it was a known issue unless you had some kind of fairy dust or something there is no way they'd replace it with a new or different model. I think the only case that would happen is if the phone was actually recalled.

There are exceptions to this of course but for the average consumer you're SOL.

I know At&t has prorated termination fees, and I want to say V is the same. I'd call customer service, speak to the retention department and calmly tell them why you are so frustrated and you are looking to end your contract. Even if you aren't, let them know you're looking elsewhere.

    Again, be calm though.

  • Which company do you have?

    AT&T

    How is the customer service?

In store: they took 3 hours to get our new plan, but in their defense, it included transfering a number, creating a new number, and moving a data package from business to personal (which is apparently a big deal).

    On phone: Incompetent

How is the service over all?

Pretty good. I know of a couple places in a close small town where I drop calls, but it's consistant. We have no service at our house, but it's 15+ miles from any town/city.

    How is the price?

should be roughly $130 for 3 lines with talk and text and 1 data package. Plus a minimal discount.

Which company do you have?  Sprint

How is the customer service?  TERRIBLE.  It is impossible to get a rep in America and they are rude and unhelpful.

How is the service over all?  TERRIBLE.  I literally can not use my phone in my home at all.  It doesnt drop calls horribly but does occasionally.  My phone only rings on my end about 50% of the time someone calls me so if they dont leave a message, I dont know they called.  Its not just the phone, I've had 3 different style phones in the last few years

How is the price?   Cheap.  $110/mo (with a discount) for 2 phones, unlimited cell to cell, data, internet, etc.  My only minute restriction is landlines at a combo of 750 minutes, but we never even use 100 because no one we know uses landlines anymore.

I have not had this specific problem but my sis had sprint and her phones screen broke.  She was paying for insurance (@ $7/mo) and when she tried to get a replacement they told her she didnt have the right insurance plan for that, for that insurance she would be paying @ $15/mo.  She never knew there were 2 insurance plans.  So she asked them to repair it and they claimed it was unrepairable and the only thing she could do was purchase a new phone at full price.  The screen just needed replaced and they claimed it could not be done.

I will wait out my contract but not renew it.

How is the customer service? Never had a problem. Even when my phone had issues, they were very nice and called me back to make sure it was fixed.

How is the service over all? Good.

How is the price? H gets a discount through work. It's a little pricy, but the service is good and we get great coverage.

  • Which company do you have?  AT&T

How is the customer service?  TERRIBLE!!!!!!  I can't emphasis this enough.  I hate dealing with them so much and very few people/companies can piss me off as much as AT&T manages to do so.  Everyone I know has had problems with AT&T.  They've made multiple mistakes on our bills, overcharged us several times, lied to us (or just didn't know WTH they're talking about).  Every year it's the same sh!t, plus something new.  And it's a PITA dealing with it because all the employees and managers will tell you different things, then still not fix the issue.  Ok.  Rant over.

How is the service over all?  Actual cell phone service is good.  I rarely have dropped calls.

How is the price?  Reasonable.  We don't have smartphones or media packages, just talk and text.  For DH and me our total is usually $100 per month for unlimited talking and texting.
