My PIPs from the Disney Princess 1/2 Marathon

I ran the Disney Princess 1/2 on Sunday. I was upset prior to the race starting bc we had to get up SO early (330). Got to Epcot at 415 and then it took a good 45 minutes to walk to the corrals. But once the race started, I REALLY enjoyed it. It was definitely the best course for stuff to see on the course (characters, distractions, etc). I was surprised how many character stops there were (probably 20+ different stops for characters).

Here are my pictures! :-)

  • Awesome! And good for you for wearing a tiara the whole time. I couldn't do that, so I just stuck with a rose in my hair (as Belle).

    I have a couple pics:

  • So cute!  Nice job, ladies!
  • ah, i've been waiting for this post!  great job, and you both look awesome!

i really want to do a WDW run - the property there is so much bigger than disneyland, it looks like you never have to leave disney property like we do over here.  one day...

I loved your pics from Tinkerbell 1/2! I want to do that one next year!

We ran from Epcot to Magic Kingdom. The course was pretty crowded and it narrowed down to one lane at some points. I didnt really mind since I was not doing it for "time."

  • A bit of advice: if you plan to run the Princess Half Next Year, you should definitely stay at the Old Key West Resort. Our friends have a timeshare there and the resort is within walking distance of the corrals. They were able to sleep in till 5am, whereas those of us who stayed off-property had to be up at 2:30am in order to fuel up and beat traffic.

  • Awesome pics ladies! And I agree that I liked running WDW more than Disneyland, both were super fun but the WDW property just makes for such a nice 1/2.

Wish I knew this before!  My alarm was set for 2:15.  I had so much trouble falling asleep when I got in bed at 9, that I ended up with 3 hours of sleep!

I loved all the girl power-ness of the race. There were 19,000+ people there, with only 3% of those being men (IIRC). The vibe was just so amazing, and the adrenaline really helped push me through those miles.

I wore my race medal and t-shirt to Epcot after the race, and it was cool to see all the other runners there with their swag on, too. And all the cast members who spotted the medals would say "Congratulations, Princess!". It was awesome.

One of my guy friends ran it as part of larger group a local radio station put together.  I'm looking forward to seeing his photos!
