HIMYM 2/27 **Spoilers**

Wowza... So where is Ted moving to? The house he bought previously?

I just don't know about this season. Marshall and Lilly used to be so cute and funny, but now they are just grating on me. And Robin needs to get back some self confidence - she is a shell of what her character used to be.

Re: HIMYM 2/27 **Spoilers**

  • I definitely thought it was cute that Ted gave them the apartment, but seriously where is he moving to?

Marshall and Lily definitely are becoming very strange. I don't get why they pretend that they have to do these weird things because they live on Long Island. Those aren't the only things to do (which looked like old people things) and they are bored only because it's just the two of them. I think they would have been fine once the baby came.

I agree about Robin too. She use to be very kick ass and now it's like she needs someone at all times around her to help support her.

  • So did Marshall and Lily sell their apartment and they just never mentioned it?
  • I didn't really care for the Barney-Quinn storyline ... it feels like it's been shoehorned into the show just so there's another potential bride out there for Barney. I don't get what's so special about Quinn, just like I didn't get what was so special about Nora. The only girlfriend Barney's ever seem to have anything in common with has been Robin (although if a Barney-Robin marriage is the endgame then maybe that's the intention?).

I cracked up at all of Ted's awful furniture. I laughed for a solid minute or two when his ball of clay went flying off the pottery wheel and through the window. And I totally didn't see the last scene coming, that he'd move out and give Marshall and Lily the apartment. I'm glad to see that he (and the show) may be moving forward as a result.

I guess Ted could go out and rent another apartment in the city, move in with Barney, but I just assumed that he was going to move into his house in Westchester. Although that puts Marshall and Lily right back where they started, since Ted is going to be at least 45 minutes away from Manhattan if he's living in Westchester. I wonder if he's moving all of his stuff to Westchester and then traveling for a while ... and is he still teaching at Columbia?

I remember the episode where her grandparents offered them the Long Island house, and they went back to Manhattan and their apartment seemed really small ... a rich neighbor came by and said if they were interested in selling the place to him, he'd turn it into a duplex since his apartment was directly above/below theirs. I remember them considering it but I don't remember them making a final decision - I guess we're supposed to assume that they sold their place to the neighbor? I always thought that they were living in Long Island to see if they liked it, while keeping the NYC place just in case. I think originally they weren't planning on keeping the Long Island house.

  • Can someone remind me about Ted owning a house?

Can someone remind me about Ted owning a house?

In season 5, Ted freaks out after attending his mother and step-father's wedding (because he's no closer to getting married) and disappears from the gang for a few days. Finally he shows up and tells them he's bought a crappy house in Westchester. The end of that episode revealed that it's the same house where Future Ted is telling his two kids the story.

I think the last time it was referenced was earlier this season in the Hurricane Irene flashback episode, where they were all stuck in Barney's apartment during the storm. Ted wanted to evacuate to his house but everyone dragged their feet and by the time they were ready to go the bridges were all closed and they had to stay in Manhattan. I think Future Ted said it was all for the best anyway because a tree fell on the house and would've hurt/killed them had they been there.

  • Sadly, I feel like Baby Erikson is going to be how HIMYM jumps the shark. :(  If they move back to the city, it might help.  It was kind of weird that he just assumed they wanted to move back.  I guess it's safe since they could just say no and then try to get out of the apartment lease.  Hmm.

But where is Ted going?  Last time we saw it, his house in the 'burbs was a wreck still.  Also... if Marshall and Lily can't move to the 'burbs, why does Ted think he can?  Wait... he should room with Barney! :)

Well, I'm pretty sure that Barney's is just a one bedroom. I think I remember an episode where Lilly goes to stay with him and they have to sleep in the same bed. But, I could be wrong!

Yes it's a one bedroom. Lily first stayed on the couch until Barney used her as an excuse calling her his "wife" so girls would leave. So to make it believable she made him let her sleep on the bed too.

  • i was just glad this episode had some real change/plot moves....versus stupid stuff like that waste of an episode house party one.

and is Ted still a teacher? i am curious where he is going to live too. i am not digging the barney story line, unless of course he marries her and that is where Ted meets the damn mother already.

Hey! Westchester is a 30 min train ride from Manhattan, not 45 min. It's a totally do-able commute! Maybe the change of scene might be good for Ted? (Although I kind of love the idea of Barney and Ted living together for the short term.)

Overall, I thought this episode was great.

I agree that the Barney-Quinn storyline was kind of dumb. But I think it showed some kind of emotional growth in him (sort of).

I loved Ted's furniture! And the crib breaking at the end when they put the note in it was so funny!

I also agree that Robin's character more or less sucks right now. I hope they bring back some of the old Robin.

I think the way they portrayed Long Island was pretty off-base (though a total NYCer perspective), but I'm glad Lily and Marshall are back in Manhattan. I'm hoping that saves the baby from messing up the show completely.

It's really good that they're moving Ted's character forward. He was getting kind of lost and annoying.
