Re: Mum, Bumps and BBTs
Hi! I hope everyone's doing well.
Ups: We have smiles! They're few and far between, but I love them. T is almost six weeks old and I feel like we're turning a corner in terms of being able to get out of the house more, feeding is easier, he's starting to go a little bit longer between feeds, etc.
Downs: My mom has been here for a month and she leaves today. I don't want her to go. She's been such a huge support for me and is so great with Thomas. The good news is that my sister is coming to town today, so I'll still have some support around.
Also, T and I appear to have thrush again. I'm seeing the doctor about it tomorrow.
QOTD: I feel like a hit a low point the other day. Poop got on my shirt but I decided it wasn't enough to warrant me changing it. It wasn't until T spit up all over it and I spilled coffee that I figured it was time to change. Haha.
Ups: N is 1 tomorrow!! Having a little party with her aunts, uncles, grandparents and cousins. Can't believe it is already that long ago... She is doing really well with the new childminder and generally goes in without any tears now which is great. She is getting really good at standing and then sitting herself down gently (rather than with a bump) and she is getting the hang of her walker (not the sit in type, the pushing type).
Downs: She has been really clingy the last week or so. Teething, snotty nose (though that part seemed better last night) and sticky eyes are the root cause of it. She is also half waking at night which normally wouldn't be an issue except that she is crying out and sometimes keeps it up for a couple minutes... at 3am usually. Don't want her to get into the habit of this and us going in to comfort her and her liking this... But in the meantime, I am sleeping quite badly...
QOTW: You know you are a mom when... you analyse and discuss someone else's bowel movements with your husband/partner... Nuff said...
Morning!
Ups: DD has started to only wake up twice a night for a bottle. The last 2 nights have been horrible because someone else put her to bed for the first time ever on Monday when we went out for DH's birthday, but I'm fairly confident we'll get back to normal in a day or two. Only having to get up twice, once between 10-11 and once between 1-2 is heaven. Absolute heaven.
Downs: DD has neurodermitis (maybe eczema in English? leo seems to think they're two different things) and I feel so badly for her. She has rash spots on her legs, tummy, and back, and while they started to go away with the cream the pedi recommended, they're now coming back. She told us that might happen and we would need to switch creams, but it's still frustrating. Plus on top of that she got a diaper rash for the first time last week and it's only just now really starting to clear up.
QOTD: Tuesday evenings I teach an English class, and my plan is usually to wear a spit-on shirt during the day and then change before leaving for class once DH is home. At least 3 weeks in a row, though, he got home later than I needed him to and I was in such a rush that I actually forgot to change.
I always realize it when I'm like 5 min away from home, but because I'm running late anyway I can't go back and change, so I just have to hope no one notices the spots. :-(
Morning everyone!
Ups: Yesterday was a lovely sunny day and we went ot the park for a picnic after nursery. Ooh, and we have a date night scheduled for next week - our first in about 3.5+ years?
Downs: Still haven't slept past 5am in weeks. And there's always a reason for me not to have a lie in at weekends. PIL are up next week. They invited themselves for H's 30th birthday. Lovely.
QOTW: Hmm - you know you're a mum when you would give your life for your children? That sounds awfully morbid, but it's all I can come up with - sorry! :P
Ups: DD is Miss Personality and loves to play shy/flirt with the ladies at the check-out. Fortunately she thinks strange men are creepy. We just ordered her swingset, and I can?t wait to get it set-up so she can swing away, which she loves to do. Still need to get a sandbox, but I think we?ll have to make one for her since I can?t find what I want.
Downs: The kid can climb now. On a chair and then on my table...
QOTD: You have an audience to pee and poo and you find yourself announcing "Mommy has to go poop, but she does it on the potty and not in a diaper"
Example of my answer to QOTW... verbatum text from dh a short while ago...
"What a morning. Yesterday's poo pants nothing compared to the full on trainspotting scene this morning. Bath required. Threw her pj bottoms in the bin!"
And who said romance was dead...
Ups: Lots of them! I'm 7 weeks tomorrow, and still feeling great. I'm starting to get a bit more tired, but nothing too bad. We saw the heartbeat last week, which was such a big relief, and have another scan in a few weeks. We told my parents over the weekend and they are super excited - mom told me later that dad is beside himself and they popped a bottle of bubbly in celebration after we got off skype.
Downs: Just trying to figure out what hospital we want to go to.
Cecilia arrived 12 October 2012
Which hospitals are you looking at?
Ups: Both ds and dd seem to be getting better from a never ending cold. I am so over snot.
Downs: DD doesn't like to sleep past 6:30. I do. She wins!
Chelsea and Westminster, Queen Charlotte and St Marys were the ones suggested by my GP given our location. I'm also trying to decide NHS vs private too since we've budgeted for private but I'm not sure I want to spend the money. Any thoughts?
Cecilia arrived 12 October 2012
I have a friend who went to C&W and she said it was just okay, and I have heard good things about Queen Charlotte (I think if you have a problem at Portland this is where they take you) and St Marys, so you probably can't go wrong! I know there is a private wing at C&W. I know a few people who went to Portland and loved it, and we considered it, but in the end I decided it was an atrocious amount of money, like it is one rate but once you start adding anything it gets really expensive. Also if the baby has an issue they have to go to another hospital, Queen Charlotte I think, unless it has changed. I wasn't super crazy about the NHS but at the end of the day I had a good pregnancy/labor and was out of the hospital in less than 24 hours so I am glad I didn't spend all the money!
Hi all, I feel like I'm intruding a bit.... no bump ahead for me .. my birthday is September 1st. This is my tiny contribution
Ups: I think today starts my second trimester? Or sometime this week at least. I'm already a bit less tired than I was for most of the first. Yay. H is out of town this week, so it's just me and W. W's been doing well, though.
Downs: Really bad lower back pain when I go to sleep.
QOTD: We were on vacation & got onto a crowded subway. I was very stressed/tired. W was starting to get a bit stressed, too and I had to pull out some mom energy to keep him calm and entertain him. Also, everytime I pass up buying something for myself to get something for W. (But, don't worry, I still get things for myself
)
Ups: DD smiles and coos back and forth with me a ton! She's generally pretty easy to take anywhere so I'm hoping our four day trip to Ireland goes well. She's consistently sleeping 7-9 hours a night.
Downs: She figured out how to really cry when she got her injections and has now started to cry when she's hungry instead of just squawk. I've had to cut out dairy at the suggestion of the pediatrician and I think this is helping DD so that's an up, but I miss cheese!
QOTD: You go out all day with poo on your coat and don't even realize it until your sister points it out.
Ups: DS is 3 months on Friday! He is so cute and so interactive! Plus, he is starting to turn his head to the right much more often, which was a concern, and we almost ended up needing physical therapy for it. Oh, that and right now, he is taking his first nap in 2 months in his pack n'play!
Downs: He has a flat spot on his head that is concerning. We went to the pedi about it, and this is where the whole turning his head to the right side came into play. We need to keep our eye on it, but for now, the pedi thinks it will work out on its own.
QOTD: When you feel guilty for everything, and then feel guilty for feeling guilty (or not.)
Ups. Kids are great, love the ages they are at now. Just starting to really feel like we're ready for the third but still waiting a few months. I'm constantly amazed by how smart my kids are. Bruce is so into math right now and Evie is talking so much more all of a sudden. They're funny and crack us all up regularly. I just really am liking this stage a lot, similar to how I felt when B was E's age. Bruce is starting to get his own cereal in the morning, E is starting to help pick up toys. It's nice. Oh and board games and princesses rule suddenly in our house. My loving the princesses but they make her really excited, it's very cute. And board games I can totally get behind.
Downs. Waiting a few months. I get antsy, once I'm ready I don't like to wait but I know my reasons for waiting are valid so poor dh has to hear about this all.the.time. Also, there is a lot of attitude in my house. They're both great kids but they are so fresh sometimes!
I agree, you know you're a mom when you know there is someone else's bodily fluid on you and you think "it's not that noticeable. I'll change later!"
