Yeah, it's been about 4 days since Gibson started the new medication and his teacher is already complaining that he is back to his old ways. I walked into his classroom after school and here he is sitting at his desk fidgeting and cutting everything up into a bajillion pieced. FML. I wish this one thing could just be a little easier. I swear this is one extreme to the next. I'm going to try calling his doctor tomorrow but he doesn't see him for another month still. I feel so helpless right now.

You and me both. Of course, Russ is back at work and I have to figure this out by myself. I really thought we did the right thing by changing his meds. I don't want him getting in trouble all the time. I tried to get him to focus after school so I was teaching him a little guitar and not even 2 minutes in he was bored to death already.

I'm sorry things are so frustrating. I don't know what Gibson is on but most meds don't work instantaneously with the first dose so it might just be a matter of getting the medication into his system. Definitely follow up with the doctor, but you might just need to give it some time.

I wasn't expecting it to work right away, but I thought at least it would have started by now. I am looking online right now to see what else I can find on it (concerta) because there wasn't much of a write up on it from the pharmacy. It was just basic info like side effects and what it is most commonly used for.

I know how optimistic you were about the change in meds, and I really hope that the effects are just a little delayed and you start to see a difference soon. Keep us updated on what the doc says.

What dosage level did he start him at? I know I had a kid on that drug last year - it took us 2 weeks or so (we were monitoring him each day and filling in a tracking sheet for his doctor) to see a change in his behaviour. Hang in there! So much of this is going to be trial and error; they'll get it right eventually!
