I work in sales and am on the road for most of the day. I am looking for ideas for healthy lunches/snacks I can eat on the road...Usually I bring a banana & a sandwhich on Fiber One bread with all natural pb and sugar free jelly. I am sick of it! I usually go to the gym right after work, so I need to make sure I eat enough during the day to fuel my workouts. I open to suggestions for filling lunches/snacks that will be ok in the car. Thanks!

Can you get a mini-cooler or something? That would open up some options for you! You could keep yogurt, string cheese, things like that.
I'm a big fan of bars when I travel- Odwalla and Kashi are some favorites. Nuts are good, too. Lots of fiber and protein to keep you full. I think it's Emerald that makes 100 cal packs of natural almonds and walnuts.
Someone told me (maybe it was someone on this board?) that most gas station convenience stores have microwaves you can use. So if you wanted to carry leftovers or soup in your mini-cooler, that's somewhere you could heat it up.
Hope that helps!

ITA with the mini cooler or insulated lunchbag suggestion. You could pack raw veggies, fruit, and more interesting sandwiches as well as yogurt smoothies, string cheese and hard-boiled eggs.
Also, for a special treat, I like to stop at high-end grocery stores and buy their sushi. it's not cheap but I love it.
DH drives a lot for his job - sometimes he has microwave access, sometimes he doesn't.
He has a big insulated lunch box and I pack:
veggies (carrots,broccoli,celery)
fruit (apples, grapes, bananas)
peanut butter granola bar thing
cheez its (not healthy, but he loves them, and I can't cut him off everything he loves)
hard boiled eggs are good snacks
string cheese
peanuts
almonds
for an actual lunch i pack him PB&J or Tuna .. He likes tuna on crackers, or regular tuna sandwiches. or tuna wrap. I personally like hummus & black bean wraps, or just black bean wraps with some spinach & greek yogurt.
I don't know if you are opposed to stopping @ a gas station & using their microwave, but that would definitely increase your choices for lunches.
I travel for work as well. I am on the road for a few days at a time. My tried and true lunch is a Veggie burger wrap.
I put 2 tbs of hummus on a WW wrap with some sirachi sauce then slice a cooked veggie burger in half and wrap it all up in some press and seal. I take one for each day put them in a zip lock (to avoid moisture). I have made these as far out as 4 days from when I ate them. They do not get soggy, I feel like the hummus is good barrier(:
and I also do a lot of what has also been recommended.
Thanks for this idea! I'm often on the road for a couple of days at a time, and I always struggle with finding healthy choices for lunch.
Thanks for all of the ideas...I love the popcorn idea. I never would have though of that!
This may be a silly question, but how do you make the black bean wrap? Just the beans from the can and hummus or do you mash them or add spices...sounds like something I would like.
Another awesome idea! What kind of veggie burgers do you use? I can't seem to find any ready-made ones I like. I don't like when there is a lot of soy protein.
my black bean wraps are pretty boring - i just spread some hummus on a wrap, and add some black beans - Oh, I heat the black beans up for about a minute first. super easy & fast
