I think i may have plantar fasciitis in my heel. Anyone have any experience with treatment? Did you just have to stop training? I have been icing like crazy. It doesnt really bother me when i run but afterwards. Any advice?
Re: Plantar Fasciitis
Is the pain in your heel or the sole of your foot (close to the ball). Plantar faciitis pain hits right under the ball, not the heel.
My husband has PF and he rolls his foot on a golf ball he keeps in the freezer. He had orthotic inserts made and if it doesn't get better, will have to have a sleep with a brace on to stretch it out.
You can feel the pain in your heel as well. I have had it and so has my sister. You need to take the vitamin Magnesium/Calcium and I think Zinc. We both took this vitamin every day and after almost a month the pain went away. It reallly works and you can google it if you want more info.
I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis and took the vitamin and the pain went away. It's been almost a year now and pain free.
Plantar fasciitis definitely DOES show up in your heel. Absolutely. That's one of the main symptoms of it. I was diagnosed with PF back in August right at the peak of my training. It was a major bummer. It started out with pain in my arch and then progressed to heel pain that felt like a spur. I would literally feel like I had just run a marathon in high heels 24/7. It was so painful. I ended up having to see a podiatrist to get fit for custom orthotics that I wear and that really alleviated the pain. I have found epsom salt soaks 2 times a day for 20 minutes help as well as calf stretching several times a day.
I wish you the best in your treatment!

Evan James was born 1/24/13 and matched with us 2/20/13. The LOVE OF MY LIFE!!!
My PF was at the base of my arch and heel. My main symptom was when I first stepped down from bed in the morning, it felt like my foot was going to tear open, the pain was so intense. The pain got better as the day went on.
I went to the Doc and started with stretches, frozen massages and a night splint. The splint I bought off of Amazon is similar to the Strasburg sock, but it was a hard shell. After about a month wearing the splint, I was almost pain free.
I did not stop exercising during this time, but I did have to back off a little during some runs.
