Teaghan mostly does solids for every meal with a few purees thrown in if I feel she hasn't eaten enough. My problem is she will eat all kinds if food in puree form but when I give them to her in solid form she won't touch them.
She loves tomato sauce so yesterday I thought I would try some small tomatoes with turkey for lunch, she ate all the turkey and left threw the tomato on the floor. This happens with almost every fruit and veggie I give her.
Now I know the purees are pretty bland whether I make them or store bought so I've tried giving them a little flavor and then giving them to her bland but either way she will only eat fruit and veggies in puree form. Give her a protein of some sort and she gobbles it down.
How do you get your LO to eat a balanced meal?
Re: BR-Eating help
It's funny because I feel chicken and beef are the ones I have to fight Samma with... fruits, and even most veggies, she always noms down. Have you tried smoothies? Not so much purees, but tasty and definitely a sure-fire way to make sure she's getting those fruits and veggies. Gerber has fruit and veggie pouches, and I always have those on hand if Samma just won't eat what I give her.
I would say just keep trying... it's frustrating, I know. Good luck.

We have that issue most of the time as well. Charlotte eats meat well, but when it comes to fruits and veggies unless I am feeding her, she throws them on the floor. Frustrating for sure. We have made it a habit to keep up with the purees just making them much thicker and including some chunks to hopefully transition.
Nate does the EXACT same thing and it's very random. Sometimes he'll eat it just fine, then the next day he'll act like I'm feeding him liver. I was reading up on it and it says to just keep offering it. Even if it's wasted, thrown on the floor etc. Don't force it but keep offering. So I've made a lot less and try to remove it before it ends up on the floor and save it for the next day. If he doesn't eat it the next day I toss it.
I realized (which I should've right away) he loves them roasted. He'll eat roasted broccoli and cauliflower over steamed any day. I toss them in a little olive oil, salt and pepper and add a little Parmesan cheese. Sold!
The fruit we're still having a hard time with. They're too slippery. Even if I coat them, he just squishes them. Just the other day he'd take bananas in solid form for the first time. I realized, he likes things to be bigger. He won't eat blueberries because they're too small and he can't bite them. he liked the bananas in chunks and same with strawberries but he gets mad at them. I found by using the spoon to serve the solid fruit helped us get better about it and help him get used to the texture.

I made homemade Pastina mac and cheese and tossed some veggies in there. He loved it! Does T like cheese?

this is Charlotte- if its in yogurt she will eat anything. She also prefers roasted veggies. I have made a habit of giving her banana in chunks too since she loves to squeeze them and get them all over herself. Its really funny how fickle they can be.
Also- another fun thing to try is polenta or grits. Charlotte loves them. we make them with a tiny bit of cheese but honestly she will eat them plain. She loves the texture. We also do couscous, small pastas and rice which she loves.
Loves cheese, probably a little to much.
You'll be fine. It's nbd. They do it all themselves, you just have to offer it to them.
I think I will try the tomatoes again at lunch today and give her something to dip them in, that's a good suggestion!
I felt the same way too, but you kinda just do it and get used to it. Pretty soon, it's no big deal...

This has become such a battle with Newt. She was such a good eater and then a few weeks ago she hit the "I'm a toddler and I don't want to eat ANYTHING you give me." I'm with MB too, she's still pretty good with fruits and veggies, but omg if I give her meat she throws it past her shoulder in disgust. Seriously, the girl eats veggie burgers, brussel sprouts, and spinach, but not chicken breast, turkey slices, or pork....who is this child?!
Just keep trying and give multiple options. I read somewhere that it can take up to 10 times of trying a new food before you can really determine if they like or don't like it. And again agree with MB, the fruit pouch things are a life saver. They usually have a mix of fruit and veggie, so it makes me feel good that she's getting something, and Newt likes them because she can handle it herself (actually...I also like that...)
Mmmmm.. veggie burgers are our lifesavers sometimes. Especially the Black Bean Chipotle ones... believe it or not, Samma adores spicy things! But yeah, those things are a great souce or protein and veggies and I know she'll have a full belly after one.

Evie has those days where she won't hardly eat anything I put in front of her... then there's others when she'll devour everything in sight.
I think the biggest thing is to keep trying. I wouldn't worry at T's age about her not liking something. Her tastes are going to fluctuate almost daily... But just keep giving them to her. If it's on her plate, she'll eventually try it.
I know not all kids are the same, but my SIL says thats one of her regrets when it came to feeding her kids who now won't eat anything with color (they pretty much only eat pasta, bread, sometimes chicken... it's a fight to get them to eat a veggie or fruit). She said because they would stop eating a certain food, she wouldn't give it to them again, without realizing it was just phase they would outgrow possibly.
