What would you serve at a 1 year old's birthday party?
The party starts at 3pm. We are expecting to have 50+ people including kids ages from babies to teenagers. We are doing a candy theme.
I was thinking to have Caprese skewers, cheeseburger empanadas, cesar salad and buffalo wings. I need a couple other things to serve. For dessert, of course we're serving cake but also whoopie pies and marshmallow pops.

Re: Party Grub Question
50+ people for a 1st bday party.... gotta keep the family happy!
updated 10.03.12
But at 3 in the afternoon? People don't need a full spread at 3 in the afternoon. They've just eaten lunch! And they'll have dinner after the party!
LOL I don't know... That's just what we (our families) do.
I'm thinking I could just do what I said and be fine.... I just don't know. I know I picked 3 so I wouldn't have to worry about actually serving a meal. I still feel obligated, however, to serve something substantial.

As of now, no. I was trying to think of things Evie eats... And well, she'll eat anything. She loves the cheeseburger empanadas. My aunt made them during the superbowl and she couldn't get enough. I thought that would be kid-friendly food.
We also will have different punches, one for the adults and one for the kids. And water, of course.

I understand. That's just not the norm around here so I wasn't sure!
Yah, I wish it was the norm here! If I only served cake and punch, I would be crucified.
My mom tells me when she was growing up, and even for her wedding, all they served was cake and refreshments.

It's not a party unless there's a taco dip!
At least that's what my nephew tells me. I tend to agree.
Haha, I might have to agree with him, too.
Taco dip would kind of go along with the empanadas.

Thats how it is here also. We are having Teaghans full on catered. Most people around here expect some sort of hot food not even just sandwiches.
:Blog:
so are we, we are having the pizza place cut it into little squares.
Us too. Just getting a sheet and having it cocktail cut. Then I'm making pulled pork and shredded buff chicken in 2 crockpots and putting out slider buns etc. Done and done.
:Blog:
Sandwiches are blasphemous if they are served alone.

I don't think I necessarily have a theme going but I was also thinking getting pizza and having them cut it into small squares.

Pulled pork sammies sound good, too.
I think I'm hungry because everything everyone has mentioned I want to eat.
