Anyone use Total Gym?

I know most of this board is runners, but I thought maybe there would be someone that would have a review they would like to share of Total Gym (this is the one that Christie Brinkley and Chuck Norris advertise). DH and I are looking at buying one (used, so only a couple hundred dollars for the XLS model with all accessories... not thousands of dollars).  We toured our local Golds Gym last night... beautiful facility, great people, but too expensive for us to maintain the membership fee (~$80 for 2, per month). So we thought this might be a better way for us to go.  Any feedback from anyone that has tried it (or knows someone who has)?

  • If you have any troubles with motion sickness, it won't work for you. I had one and sold it because I discovered I had motion sickness. I also didn't see much for results from it, except feeling nausea.

ETA: And it hurt like heck when my hair would accidently get caught on the track/roller.

  • LOL  I saw a review online that mentioned the long-hair-getting-caught-in-the-track problem. I thought maybe that one person just had an issue... apparently not!  I do have long hair, so if we get it I will have to remember to keep it clipped up. No issues with motion sickness though, so should be ok on that aspect.  Thank you for the info!
  • I have one.  Yes, it will work if you use it.  However, I found it a PIA to aways change out the attachments. Took more time to do that than to workout.

I have found DVDs that are the perfect workout.  "The Kettlebell Way to the Perfect Body" or "The Art of Strength: Providence".  I promise, it will get you the results you want and won't be as cumbersome as a TG. Much cheaper and won't take up the space a TG does.
