Sitting by the downstairs bathroom as the tornado sirens go off. I'm sitting right outside the bathroom door so I can see the beast of a storm approaching me from the west out my back door. It's a wall of clouds with some hanging low with possible rotation like this and cloud to ground lightning.
DH is out of town for training and he's in a city to the west of me. They had a tornado touch down and parts of the east side are destroyed. Luckily, he's ok. I saw online that other parts of KY, MO, IN, and IL have been hit bad and many people are injured. This is the first time I've been online today, so I hope none of our Nesties were affected by this.

It's starting to hover and getting awfully dark outside...eek! I'm sure it will blow over quick, but it sure does look scary.
I like how I have a laptop now and people to keep me company during situations like this.
omygosh, saying a prayer that you are kept safe!! how scary!
no storms here today, just warm, muggy and gross humid.
Oh, no...I hope your family and their belongings are ok! I didn't realize KS was hit too.
I'm reading weather.com right now and it looks like it's been pretty bad throughout the night and morning for many states. I'll be within the severe zone for a little while.
They are all fine...I'm unsure if it was an actual tornado or just really bad wind. Several people are without power and stuff. I was a mess last night because I kept thinking of the Joplin tornadoes...I remember not being able to reach family and friends and NOBODY could reach my grandfather, who lives in a trailer park
It was one of the worst nights of my life and even now thinking about I get teary eyed.
We always seem to get bad weather and tornados every year around this time. Last year in particular was awful. I'm actually surprised we hadn't been hit yet this year because it's been unseasonably warm.
I think the worst of it is over and the funnel cloud has passed, thank goodness. But now it's pouring down rain and we have a flood advisory. LOL. I knew I should have gone to the grocery and finished running my errands yesterday!
Oh, well. It's really dark outside, so maybe I'll use this as an excuse to take a nap later and be lazy today.
It passed me! It was freaky looking outside for about 2 hours but luckily nothing touched down here.
I talked to DH earlier and he said while in training they had to take cover. Some of the guys training with him who live in nearby counties have damage to their homes.
According to the news, there were 20 reported tornadoes, 10 confirmed deaths so far, and hundreds of injuries in surrounding states.
