Our whole campus migrated from Outlook/webmail to GoogleApps (business version of Gmail) a few months ago and it has not gone well. Calendars aren't synching, attachments are lost into nowhereland, smartphones don't get some emails, and that's on top of a loss of functionality (folder sorting, reply notifications etc., etc.)...it's a mess. Our IT dept. has been adamant that we're all making this stuff up and it works perfectly.
My boss discovered that it works much better on a Mac than on a PC (which all the offices have here), so we have now purchased a laptop to use for nothing but email. A $1,600 computer to do what we used to be able to do from a crappy cell phone.
*sigh*

D'oh!
I hate when they muck up a perfectly good system and the results are way worse than before. Truly a FUBAR situation.
That sounds about right.
Wow. You guys need a new IT dept. stat!
PS, Macs rock!
Nope, it's hers. Will sit on her desk next to her PC, which she will continue to use for everything but email.
BTW, we've had this thing for 3 hours and it's frozen up twice and stopped recognizing a network drive already. Blah.
ETA: and they can't get the MacBook to print to the network printers. *headdesk*
