Migraine Sufferers

I need suggestions.

I've had 2 big bottles of water already. I've taken 2 Excedrin migraine and am currently drinking coffee. What else can I do? I'm stuck in class so I can't do much about it :(

Re: Migraine Sufferers

  • Go to your doctor/neurologist and ask for "blockers". I had a migraine for 2 straight weeks last year and after taking the blocker pills for a couple of days it went away. I haven't had one since.
  • I recommend Ibuprofen over Excedrin for future reference.

Also, if you have heart or blood pressure problems, mention these before asking about beta blockers.  I was on them for 2 years and started having chest pains, so they weaned me off them.

ETA:  I would say take a nap, but you're in class.  :(

  • I can't take Ibuprofen. I used to take 800 mg of Motrin 2x a day for my knee so it's ineffective.

Missus, I've been on like every medicine known to man for migraines and I got the unfavorable side effects that cause my doctor to pull me off of them.

Sessions, I would love a nap with a cold compress over my eyes.

What I'm talking about doesn't treat the migraine, it blocks whatever makes them start.

Hm.. I'll have to do some research and find a good doctor.

ETA: Maybe not. I've been on those too. I had to take them daily to prevent migraines and I still had unfavorable reactions. Looks like its time for Botox! haha

  • I know you're in class, but try to cool off. Can you go home after and take a cool shower? I've found that lowering my body temperature does a TON of good.

I do that with my AC. I had my AC full blast in my face. It felt nice. I think its more of a tension migraine. I wanna die right now.

  • My trick is Icy Hot or something similar.  Rub just a little bit onto the area that hurts and try to take a nap.  Just be careful putting it around your eyes.

I used to get 3-4 migraines per week for many years - since I was 14.  I've been on so many painkillers and preventatives, I couldn't name them all for you if you paid me.  This has been working so well, I stopped Topamax about 2 years ago and haven't taken a migraine painkiller in almost as long.

Damn you Nest for screwing up my siggy!

I had an allergic reaction to that pill unfortunately :( I need to get to a doctor soon. Vicodin helps but I can't take it if I need to go to work.
