If you sold your engagement ring come in please!

If you don't mind sharing, what did you do with the money?  I finally sold mine after being separated for 2.5 years, I was holding off b/c I was in denial about how little it was worth compared to what he spent.  Now I have a fat stack of cash in my wallet that I have spent 10 different ways in my head.  Anyone do anything fun with their money?

Re: If you sold your engagement ring come in please!

  • I sold mine but hardly got anything, but just wanted to say good for you!  Treat yourself to a spa day

  • I didn't sell my e-ring. It is a ring that has been in his family for generations and his mom (who had it before me) asked me to hold on to it and give it to ds when the time came. I have it in a box in the back of a drawer in my dresser.

My wedding band, however, I thought about selling, but I ended up having the stones in it reset into what my jeweler calls my "freedom ring." I wear it every day to remind me how far I have come and how I am now free from the control of that ass.

I'd use the money to celebrate in some way. Spa? Treating a friend or two who really supported you through the divorce to a nice dinner? An awesome purse?

  • I sold mine and YES do something for yourself.  I posted about this too when I sold mine because I felt torn.  I put 2/3 in savings, bought myself some Lululemon gear and booked a mini vacation with the remainder.  Best money spent ever!
  • I paid off my lawyer. Not so fun, but it seemed appropriate.
    This is my siggy.
  • XH hardly wore his ring anyway, so I had it when his a$s was carted off. Sold that, my e-ring and wedding band - helped pay for my divorce lawyer!

    Vacation
  • Paid bills. Not very exciting but having food and cable was nice lol

  • I sold mine but didn't do anything fun, per se. When I left XH, I left with nothing so I used to money to buy new stuff for my apartment. Onward and upward!
