Tablets, schmablets.

I have a serious addiction to technology. I don't so much care for it (my addiction), but I can't help it. I have a massive urge to buy a tablet. I don't need it... I just want it. So, humor me. Do you have one? Which one? Do you love it? Do you hate it? If you don't have one, and want one, which one would you get?

I tend to lean towards the iPad just because I have an iPhone and pink-puffy-heart love it. Plus, it all syncs with iTunes and that's where I get my music and it just seems it'd be easier to use the one 'hub' for both my phone and phantom tablet. But, I don't like the price of the iPad. I saw a Kindle Fire in Target yesterday and played with it for a bit... it was pretty awesome.

I wouldn't want to read books on it (I have the basic Nook for that, and real books, of course), I'd just want to play on it. You know, Pinterest, email, Nest, etc... all the important things.

So... what say you?

  • I have the Ipad II and just got a Kindle Fire for my birthday. The Ipad is pretty cool but honestly I use my laptop more. I usually reserve my Ipad for note taking, research, and the cool apps.

Now that I have a Kindle I use it quite a bit.

  • I don't have one yet, but I would 100% buy an iPad. The new one is coming out soon... maybe this week? That should make prices on the latest model drop, which might make you feel better about buying one. That's what I'm counting on, anyway. :)

Personally, I like the convenience of having all of my devices work together. I've got a MacBook, an iPhone, iTunes, and an iMac. I'm really familiar with the ins and outs of Apple products, the customer service has been great, and they produce a high-quality product. All of those things make it worth a little extra cash, for me.

  • I have a Kindle Fire and love it.  I do read books on it often, but I also surf the web, play games, watch videos, etc.  I have it by my side at all times when lounging on the couch, and when I get bored with whatever H has the on the TV, I pick up my Kindle and read/play.

For me, it's just a toy and therefore justifies the $200 price tag.  I probably wouldn't be willing to pay $500+ for an iPad.

  • I have an iPad and I love it! I don't have a laptop, so it's nice to just be able to sit on the couch and play games, check email, read, surf the web, etc.
  • I have a Kindle Fire, I am on it quite often. My DH and I just started using it for Crosswords we do together! We are pretty cool ;) but I do love it. For what I do on it, I would not spend the money on an iPad. I feel like I would be doing the exact same thing, but on a more expensive product. I do use my laptop, but really if it is something my Fire can't handle, etc.
  • I think the main reason I keep trying to convince myself I need an iPad over the KF is that we don't have wi-fi at home. We've got a little Cricket card that plugs into my desktop because that was all that was available to us for the longest time at our location. I want to be able to jump on the internet any time I want whether wi-fi is available or not. Then again, our house is small... it's not like the office is that far from the living room if I just must have internet access.

Oh! Also, does the KF have an agenda/calender thing on it? I can see myself using something like that frequently...

  • I have an iPad. When it's not glued to my husband's hand, I LOVE using it. I read books on it, surf the internet, use apps, play games.. everything. It's just so much more convenient than lugging out a laptop.

  • I got the Kindle keyboard right before they announced the Kindle Fire. I love it but I only wanted a tablet to read books. My mom got a Kindle Fire for Christmas and she loves it! She also has an Iphone but I think she uses her Fire more.

  • We have an iPad because we're an Apple family. That's pretty much the reasoning behind our choice!

  • Throwing in my vote for an ipad. I have an iPhone, macbook pro, and iMac... so having the ipad has helped because all of my devices can sync together with little problems. Check macrumors.com for latest news on the release of the iPad 3. Someone mentioned it earlier, but prices will probably drop somewhat on the iPad 2 when the 3 is released. Also, on the apple website, they have refurbished iPad 2's if you want to go that route. Just keep checking back as that list updates continuously HTH.
  • Yeah...another one for the iPad. I don't use it as often as when I first got it last summer, but I still use it a lot. It's convenient, travels well, has everything I need on it, and it's shiny and pretty.

My parents both have Samsung Thrives, and those operate more like PCs - they have Windows on it [I think it runs on a Droid OS for apps and such], and it's pretty neat. No way in Hades I'm giving up my iPad though.
