Re: weekly book post

  • I have a few books going right now.

I just started Pandemonium.  It is the 2nd book in the series that started with Delirium.  I am not too far into it but I am enjoying it so far.

I am also reading Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry.  I am going to start teaching this in a couple of weeks and haven't read it since I was young.

I am listening to House Rules.  My main character is an 18 year old with aspbergers.  I am enjoying it but there are parts that annoy me.

  • I just finished Roll of Thunder hear my cry! The girl I tutor had to read it and I've never had to read it.

I am 91% done with 13 Reasons Why.  It's so sad, but it's definitely has me not wanting to put it down. I started it on Monday night, and I'll definitely have it done tonight.

I need to read WG,WG and Impossible this week for class, along with another book about bullying. (We have to give booktalks this week on 3-5 books. I'm doing 13 Reasons Why, Powerless (which is the class readaloud so I've been listening to the other teacher read it), and one more yet to be determined book.)

Did you like Roll of Thunder?  Did your student?  I am focusing on the theme "struggles" for all of our readings.  I am hoping my kids like the book.

    I loved 13 Reasons Why!

Can't wait to hear what you think of WG, WG.  I am in the minority, but I did not like it.

  • ROTHMC was a little slow for me, but I read it over the past month- I usually don't drag books out that long but I was trying to keep pace with her language arts class...and trying to get all my required reading around it in.  P liked it enough to finish it super fast by reading ahead instead of reading along with the teacher/class. I'll ask her when I see her again next week what her overall thoughts were, though I think she raced through it so that she could read her for fun books at home instead of working on LA homework.

WGWG- I have not read any of the authors books, but I know a ton of people over on NBC love all fo the books, and the 8th graders have told me I have to read TFIOS.  I've just got to hold out until my two spring breaks to have time to read TFIOS.

  • I haven't gotten to TFIOS yet.  I did really enjoy Looking For Alaska.  Add that to your list.

  • I just finished One Good Dog by Susan Wilson. It was a good read. If you liked Art of Racing in the Rain, you will like this as well.

?One Good Dog is a wonderful novel: a moving, tender, and brilliantly crafted story about two fighters?one a man, one a dog? hoping to leave the fight behind, who ultimately find their salvation in each other. Susan Wilson?s clear and unflinching style is perfectly suited for her story that strips away the trappings and toys we all hide behind, and exposes our essential need to give and accept love in order to thrive.??Garth Stein, New York Times bestselling author of The Art of Racing in the Rain
