So what should I be reading??

DH bought me a Kindle for my birthday (even though its a month away, he wanted to buy me something before he left for OTS) and I have no idea what's even out there these days!

So far I know I want to read The Hunger Games series and The Help. ...other than that, I'm lost.

And if anyone wanted to also recommend a parenting book, that would probably be helpful since most days I have no idea what the heck I'm doing.

  • Do you like biographies?  I read Elizabeth, the Queen last month and enjoyed it.

ETA: Tina Fey's biography Bossypants was hilarious and an easy read.  I read it when Sophia was first born (aka when my brain was on vacation).

I read Bossypants and absolutely loved it. I have a major crush on Tina Fay though.  Thanks for the other rec. I like biographies like that because I'm nosy haha.

  • I just finished reading "Divergent" and it was so great. It's a distopian novel, like The Hunger Games. (Which are also amazing.)

I haven't read many recent novels thanks to school.

  • Three Sister Island Trilogy by Nora Roberts,The Bride Quartet ( its 4 books to the series) also by Nora Roberts.

Anything Beverly Lewis- she writes about the Amish, all of her books are really great.

    The Apothecary's Daughter- Julie Klassen

Embers of Love- Tracy Peterson ( Its the first in the series but I haven't read the rest)

    Winter Garden- Kristen Hannah

    Maid To Match- Deeanne Gist

Hope those give you some ideas!

  • I'm reading Wolf Gift, the new book by Anne Rice.  It was a slow start but it's pretty good.

Next on my list is Divergent.

  • I just finished Moloka'i, about the leper colony there.  It's fiction but well researched.  I think it's in kindle form.

  • I got a kindle for Christmas and I just started using it.  Woops.

I finished the Hunger Games series in like 48 hours.  I loved it.

I just finished the latest in the Sookie Stackhouse Series.  More of the same, but I love Sookie!

I'm probably going to read Bill O'Reilly's Killing Lincoln next.  I've heard good things and I love history.

I also have gone back and read Pride & Prejudice, Sense & Sensibility and Little Women recently.  There's a great Marilyn book called Marilyn Monroe by Barbara Leaming that I loved.  I'm also a massive Marilyn fan though, so that might be why I liked it.

  • Loved loved loved Divergent.

Delirium by Lauren Oliver is another YA, dystopian fiction that is good. The second book in the series, Pandemonium came out a few days ago.

I wish I could figure out how to post my Goodreads shelf. I read an obscene amount of books.

  • I'm currently reading "Sarah's Key" about the Nazi invasion of Paris in the 40s. Also just read a nonfiction book about President Garfield's assassination called "Destiny of the Republic." Both are very good.

  • I love the Velvet series by Jude Deveraux (sp?) and her book Someone to Love is beautiful. There is not alot of action in her books but it keeps me on edge. I am not sure who wrote Midsummer Magic but that book was witty and kind of sexual so if you don't like books like that the books I suggested are out except Someone to Love. Saffrons Angel was good still not sure who wrote that its also clean. Some Nora Roberts books are good but I have found quite a few that just drag on and on and get nowhere. Hope that helped :)
