My sister had her anatomy scan and first ultrasound yesterday. It's a boy... and another boy! She and her husband had no idea they were pregnant with twins. They're really excited, but a little bit shocked. She's due at the end of July, but will probably have them earlier as seems to be the case with twins.
Now I can finally do some shopping. All I'd bought so far were some books. I'm excited to be an aunite to two little boys! My sister "blames" me b/c I kept saying it was twins (although I predicted a boy and girl). She was probably about 7 or 8 weeks around Christmas and the bump was noticeable (esp. considering it's her first pregnancy and she and I are tall and have long torsos). It definitely had a distinct baby bump look to it. I joked and told her she's having twins and it just kind of stuck since then. Guess I was right.
We don't have any history we know of in having twins in our family. So, I suppose this makes my chances even slimmer.
I always thought it would be fun, although double the work, kind of.
Just wanted to share!
Re: Auntie x 2!!
That is so exciting! Congrats! Being an aunt is the best thing in the world.

YAY!!!! SOOOOOOO EXciting!
I have a twin sister - my mom did not find out there were two of us until she was in labor, delivered my sister and the fetal monitor kept on going..... Talk about shock!
Like your family - we didn't have any history either. But I always say - history has to start somewhere!
How fun for you! Being an aunt is the best! Do they live near you?
Congrats Auntie! Double the spoiling!
I've wondered before how it would be to have twins (especially since I get a lot of comments since I show early) but I've decided one at a time is just fine for me!
That's really exciting! I've always wanted twins but my god they must be a lot of work lol. But soooo exciting!
As far as it "running in the family" identical twins aren't a hereditary thing. Its more of a chance splitting of your egg. Fraternal twins are a hereditary thing in families where the woman drop more than one egg during ovulation, and that's really rare.
You still have a chance!

Thanks! I'm very excited!
In response to some questions:
I couldn't imagine finding out in the delivery room!!!
My sister and I are a little less than a half hour away. We usually see each other at least once a week (and more often over the summer since we're both teachers).
