Our house decision for now

You all know I've been stalking comps, and have been sure we'd never get what we need.  I talked to a realtor my friends are working with, and she gave me a price range that was around what I suspected.

Jim and I talked tonight, and decided to start a refi, and revisit in a year (stay, rent out, sell?  We'll decide next year).

I am so happy to have this come to a rest for a while.  Sure, I'd like to get out and move on, but it's nice to not be in limbo for a solid year.  AND, I get to play in my garden this spring/summer/fall.

Re: Our house decision for now

  • I'm glad you have some stability for now.  Good luck with the re-fi process and hopefully the market perks up a bit more by next year.
  • I gave a small sigh of relief when I read this.  I know it's not your ideal situation, but taking a break from the real estate market for awhile sounds like a good idea.  Glad to hear about this decision.  And, yay!, for another year or gardening there!
  • That sounds like a very smart decision, I'm hoping the market takes a positive swing in your favor over the next year :)

Yay for a decision.  I admire your very positive attitude about this.  :)  Fingers crossed that the market starts it's climb back up, and GL with your refi!

  • I think that sounds like a good idea. I would hate to see you get into another house that you weren't completely happy with just for the sake of getting out of the current house.  Hopefully by next year  the job market will have changed a bit and things will different.

Yes!  That's another thing: I'll graduate next May, and will (hopefully) be working a full time professional job soon after.

I feel bad for Jim because he was being extremely optimistic about selling, and this has taken wind out of his sales.  I've been okay with this choice for months now, but we didn't have a prof. opinion to back it up.

With a few exceptions, this decision is win, win, win...

I love how this typo made a pun!

    That doesn't sound so bad!

  • I'm really happy for you, that you can take a little time to relax.
  • This sounds like a great plan. I'm so glad you get a chance to breathe and relax. Enjoy your garden!

It sounds like you guys are flexible about what decision you will make next year too. This will take a lot of the stress out of the whole process.

  • Glad you have come to a rest for awhile, I am sure that is a good feeling!  Yay for being able to play in your garden too!!
