Breakfast: Portable food that's low carb, low fat, high protein?

I love eating Morningstar Farms sausage patties for breakfast daily (it's my mid-morning snack)- low carb, low fat, and high in protein. I eat 2 of these for my mid-morning snack.

I am looking for other low carb/low fat/high protein options for morning... any suggestions? Bonus if it's portable!

  • Hard boiled egg whites.

  • Nuts - just measure them and make sure you have one portion

    Cheese stick

Mini-"frittatas"...you can make egg white frittatas in muffin cups with veggies and a little cheese.  They are really popular on South Beach...if you google you can probably find a ton of recipes

  • I use a zero-carb whey protein shake mix in various recipes that happens to be low-fat as well.  You could make one of those shakes and add to it any ingredients that suit you, and carry along in a coffee or other portable drink mug.

For some reason, I do not get full for a protein shake- no idea why! My protein shakes are high in protein and low in carbs/sugar too.

Which protein shake brand are you drinking?

  • Single serve greek yogurt. Not super low carb, but they have a good bit of protein as well.
  • Plain 0% Greek yogurt is low in carbs, high in protein and fat free if you get 0%.

Cottage cheese is also a high protein/low fat snack. I prefer 1% because the little bit of fat makes it taste a lot better.

  • egg white burritos (I use the low carb La Tortilla factory tortillas)

I make a bunch over the weekend, freeze them and then thaw one (or two) out overnight. Reheat int he morning...eat on the way to work.

I add cheese, spinach and cut up morningstar farms patties.
