How did YOUR short sale offer go?

Clearly everyone pregnant is making offers on short sales and I somehow managed to originally page the wrong person (OctoberbabyH) yet be totally accurate on my question....  ha.

  • So far we are hanging in there.... just.

Bill did come out to take a look and we got pricing from him for the outside of the house, which was a bit high. I liked him very much though so we're seeing what other quotes come in and then we'll probably go back to him and see what he says. Still waiting to hear from him on a quote for the inside.

The house is a bit overwhelming to be honest. We really like it and LOVE the neighborhood, but I hope we're not biting off more than we can chew. It's definitely a whole different ball game from the city row homes we're used to!

I meant to ask you which hospital you go to? If we do end up moving I guess I'll probably need to switch. There's Doylestown which is pretty close to the new house, or Mr Nobooze says there's a brand new place really close to his work (it's in Ewing or somewhere like that) that is meant to have a high level NICU. That place must be really close to you, do you know where i mean?

That one might be better as it would be so much easier for him to get to appointments, although it would be a little further for me. I would definitely be interested to hear where people from the area choose to go although it may be too early for reviews from the new hospital.

  • Yes, thats the hospital I am going to deliver at - Capital Health Hopewell.  From New Hope you would literally jump on 95 in Yardley at Taylorsville Rd and take it 3 exits into NJ.  It's all of 5 minutes from the entrance to 95.  So it would definitely be the closest to you.  It's *so* nice it's ridiculous.  We just did our hospital tour and the rooms are seriously like hotel rooms, and the bathrooms are HUGE.  Also plasma tv's on the wall in every room.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you on the house!  You are still waiting on acceptance from the bank right?

  • We actually have bank acceptance of our offer.... in 'as is' condition which is where the hesitation comes in, as all repairs are on us, and the house has been vacant for several months.

We did the basic home inspection (still have septic, well, radon and pest to do) and have been frantically getting quotes from contractors to see if we can make it work or if we would have to cancel the contract.

I think we're going to proceed to the additional inspections, so now I need to get another contract addendum signed to extend the inspection contingency as we don't want to get caught on the wrong side of our insection contingency clause. Fun stuff!

That is really good to know re the hospital - Capital Health is definitely the one close to his office, so that's great! I think it's a level 3 NICU right? Do you go to the hospital for all your prenatal appointments? Are they nice? I think we've done the majority of our big prenatal testing stuff (NT and sequential screens/ genetic counseling/ anatomy scan, etc), so it would be weird to switch at this point, but I think Lankenau would be just too far to come to deliver if we're living all the way up there.

Do you know if it's a laborist system like at Penn, or if it's more like Lankenau where you try and meet each doctor who could be on duty when you deliver?

I like your description of the rooms - I guess they should be pretty good if the place is brand new, but to be honest the staff are the more important aspect to us. As nervous first timers, I really want to feel like we're in capable (and nice!) hands.

I would love to hear how your experience has been so far!
