I am an idiot.
Locked myself out of the house. No spare key hidden anywhere, no wallet, no car keys. H doesn't get off until 6. I had to call my mom and she is going to pick me up in an hour. I guess it's good that it's nice outside today lol

That was my biggest fear for the last month here, since I have nobody around. My closest person is about 35 minutes away and doesn't even have a key. My neighbors probably thought I had OCD with how many times I would check for the keys as I was walking out the door.
We just installed a new garage door opener with a keypad entry thing, and then I have a key inside the garage now. I feel a million times better knowing that I have a backup plan. Do you have anything you can hide a key in or would it be way too obvious? Or even just put a spare key in your wallet?

If it's just the door knob and not the deadbolt, a qualified locksmith should be able to get you inside in about 10 minutes and for about $35, without doing any damage to the door knob or lock. FWIW.
I locked myself out once while late-H was at tech school. I couldn't wait for anybody else to let me in, and I had to be at work.....locksmith was awesome.
That is awful!!
A friend of mine got locked out of her house and non of the locksmiths would help her and neither would the police. My father ended up busting open part of her door frame to get her in. I called myself and requested help from both parties and they both said legally they can't open a dwelling for someone to enter. Even if they have proof that it is their home. It made so sense to me.

I got locked out while H was deployed and the locksmith charged like $120 bucks to open the door handle- not even the deadbolt!

Thankfully I haven't locked myself out of this house or the apartment we lived in when we are first married. I locked myself out of the house in college with no shoes on, but my friend had just pulled in the driveway to hang out for the day and she drove me to my roommates work and lent me her shoes while I went in and got the key.
Then I went to a conference for work while I was in college and my roommates mom painted the inside of the front door and slid the latch at the top. It was awful!!! My boss took me to her mom's and fed me dinner and then took me home when my roommate finally got home!
I hope your mom is fast about coming to get you!
