Can someone explain the price of Garmins?

I've been eyeing the different Garmins for a while now, and had thought I'd settled on the 110 with the heart rate monitor since I didn't really think I needed a bunch of bells and whistles. I've been saving up my Amazon giftcards, and was going to use birthday money towards paying for it, but when I went on today, the 110 is $25 more than the 405cx! What's with that?

I really just want to keep track of distance and pace. I will be starting a training program soon for my first half marathon, so would I need more? Is the 406cx easy enough to use and will I really use more than just the basic features, or am I going to be better off with the 110?

Re: Can someone explain the price of Garmins?

  • LOVE my 110!

    DH has a 405cx.

Every time I run, I fall more in love with mine. Each time I see him go for a run and try to figure the thing out, I'm even more glad I have the one I do.

It gives me a headache just to think about dealing with all the extra stuff his watch does; he doesn't even understand it most of the time and he's had it for 10 months. It randomly resets (losing data), doesn't hold battery as long as mine, and has a harder time finding satellites when we travel. Way more nitpicky details to that than the 110, which I took out of the packaging, charged, and went for a run with the first day I had it.

This was what I wanted. Simply just push the button and go, in a cute pink/gray color than the black, but for some reason the "womens" watch is more expensive than the "mens". Grr.

  • I have wondered this too. We got our 305 last summer and I think it was about $120. Now they are twice that! WTH?

  • I have the 405cx, bought because of the super cheap price before Christmas.  I only use pace, distance etc (the normal stuff) but because it was so cheap, it made sense.  I don't have any problems with it, have never had it reset or have a difficult time finding a satellite.  I would probably buy the cheapest one.
