thoughts? amazon instant vs netflix?

hola!

any of you ladies have amazon instant?  how is the variety?  we currently have netflix instant (and blu ray) and use it alot.  however, in researching the amazon mom membership you got amazon instant free.  how big is the prime free library?  will it be worth it for me to cancel the $9/month netflix instant in terms of selection?  we do a lot of sci fi stuff (first thing sami said is what netflix has star trek lol).... guess i'm just looking for your opinions if anyone has tried both!

TIA!

Re: thoughts? amazon instant vs netflix?

  • Good question. I'm an amazon prime member (if you have a student email address, this membership is free for a year).  I've definitely taken advantage of amazon instant, but I also pay for Netflix instant. The nice thing about amazon instant is that you don't have to pay a monthly fee. There is a subset of videos that are always free. But if they are not free, they are still cheaper and more convenient than going to a rental store or waiting for the mail. It's more pay-per-view rather than pay-per-month.

Both companies have a limited supply of videos though - the word is that Hollywood does this on purpose to dilute the competition. So I like having both.
