Court date tomorrow

For our wedding photographer.  I know he probably won't show up and we'll likely never get any money, but we're suing him for $5K.  My fingers are crossed!

  • I take it this means you're not going to use him for any maternity pics? Stick out tongue

In all seriousness, good luck.  It'll probably be a moral victory if nothing else.

  • Dumb question, but don't you automatically win if he doesn't show?  We sued our reception hall (long story) and were told that they most likely wouldn't show which meant that they were not contesting the suit and that we would win our asking amount.  We ended up settling out of court, but that option was there as well.

Yeah, that's my understanding, but I've been told that us "winning" doesn't necessarily mean he will pay...  I'm hoping that's not the case for us, this has been 3.5+years too long, but who knows!

Just because you win, doesn't mean that you automatically get money.  You have to file the judgment and then its a whole separate process to actually enforce it to get your money.  Honestly, you may end up spending more on an attorney than you're going to get back (if you haven't already).

  • I hope it goes well for you and that you can at least have some retribution for what you went through with him.  I hope it doesn't end up costing you and that you make it out of this on the plus side of things.  What a mess he put you through.
