Milo (my golden) was throwing up when we got back after the funeral. We figured it was anxiety from us leaving. We got back Wednesday, by Sunday morning he was still throwing up-mostly water and slime, and food right after he ate.
We took him to the vet (emergency room) Sunday night, he got a shot to try to stop him from vomiting and he said that he would do further research on Monday.
We found out Monday that he has an enlarged esophagus, which means the food gets stuck in his throat so he just throws it up, it never reaches his stomach. It could be caused by some weird disease that takes 14 days for the test results to come back.
It IS treatable...if he can keep food down, which he hasn't...BUT he did poop, it was horrible and looked like a murder scene in the bathroom (I'll leave the rest to your imagination), but at least a little food went through his system.
The next step is to insert a feeding tube (which we won't do) so it can buy us some time to see if it is the crazy disease. I asked to start treating him like he already had it, but their are toxicity complications to giving him the medicine.
He's just such a good dog, he never ever made a sound towards KR and KR loves to climb all over him and play with his ears (my other dogs will have none of that). Ugh, my heart is breaking.
vibes appreciated.
