My mom's been continually texting, e-mailing, sending letters (I've sent them back without opening them hoping she'd get the idea and not answering calls.) Everyone I've talked to says, "but it's your mom, give her a chance..." I spoke with a therapist who recommended talking to the sister about pastoral counseling or bringing her to a meeting for the National Association of mental illness. haha! Neither of those will go over well...so I told everyone in essence, "You are family. I love my family." I apologized if anyone felt they had been put in the middle and I told my sis I love her but I don't have to agree with her life's choices. Sis e-mails me: "I love you too. Let's talk, me and you, sometime when we r both not working so much." (she works 20 hrs/week mind you, I work 60; I'll let her take the initiative now). My mom on the other hand is trying to get me alone so she can coax me into submission; she has no problem bringing in
everyone else when she is looking for sympathy and probably realizes
that she will never sell me on giving up if my hubby is around, but she keeps saying "we NEED to talk ALONE." I called her at work so I knew she'd be polite and explained that DH has been brought into this situation and he wants to apologize for raising his voice to her. I figure my stance should simply have her over, but keep her at an arms length. I stand behind my decisions to not want to associate with the criminal that is living in her house. If she wants to keep raising a 30 yr old child and her love slave, it'll be in the privacy of her home. I am not distancing myself from my family so much as I just don't want this maladjusted situation shoved in my face.
Re: update: sister-mother-BF-triangle-Dinner TOMORROW
Ditto this! Seeing them without others just gives them a chance to manipulate or misrepresent what goes on.
