Sherlock season 2 spoilers

Okay, H and I finished season 2 today.  I am so sad we have to wait until next year for it to continue!

I'm assuming that Molly and her ability to procure corpses has something to do with Sherlock's "death," right?  And if Sherlock suddenly becomes alive again, do the assassins go back to their targets, or is that over then?

Another question: why did Mycroft let Moriarty go?  I didn't catch that.

Re: Sherlock season 2 spoilers

  • so... I did the freeze frame and whatnot...

and I think Sherlock jumped off the building and landed in a truck.  From where Watson is standing, there is a building between him and the building Sherlock jumped off of - Watson had to run around the building to get to the body, and right after he fell (tripped by the bike or whatever) the camera shows his view point and there is a truck pulling away to reveal the body on the sidewalk. I think Sherlock was in the truck bed and the body was dumped.  DH thought Sherlock didn't jump at all, just threw down Moriarty's body, but when you go back and look at the camera angles, they are doing a tight shot on Sherlock going over, so it's definitely him.  Of course, the writer could wank it to say that what we saw was what Watson thought he saw and not what actually happened, but they've been pretty straight with us so far.

I don't think the assassins go back to their targets if he comes back because Moriarty isn't there to give them orders anymore.  I'm pretty sure their contract was a one-day job.

Why Mycroft let him go is an excellent question... I don't remember what was going on then (I saw it a while ago).  Ummm blackmail?  General British government corruption?  He got out of the trial because he owned the jury.
