VA Mortgages

Anyone have any experience with VA Mortgages (esp NFCU) but any will do.  Thanks!

Re: VA Mortgages

  • We went through USAAs movers advantage and used a VA loan for our house in Chicago. The realtor that USAA gave us knew all the ins and outs of the VA and was super helpful.

  • We just bought our house with a VA loan and closed in January.  We talked to NFCU but ended up going with Bank of America for it.

Do you have specific questions about it?

I actually had never really heard of a VA loan, and didn't think my SO would qualify for it (he did 4 or 5 years AD USMC and is now IR to finish out his contract) so I've been doing a bit more research on it.  From what I can understand, it looks like can do no down payment, with a one time fee.  I did read that it can be a torturous process.  He already spoke with NFCU but just was curious about other people's experience with it.
