Okay, I was talking to a friend last night. Something was said about a Shamrock Shake from McDonald's. One of us feels that it is a dessert, the other feels that it isn't. What do you think, dessert, or not dessert?
Re: Help me settle a debate
Definitely a dessert.

Anything with that many calories is definitely a dessert!!!
I'm curious, if not dessert, what does your friend think it is?
A "beverage replacement!"
I can see her point. People order a burger, fries and a shake...not a burger, fries and a soda, THEN a shake. The shake is their "beverage replacement", most of the time.
Still, it's definitely enough that you wouldn't even think of dessert afterwards!

It's got ice cream, it's a dessert.
This was my thought, exactly.

I see where she's coming from. I know at In 'n Out, a burger chain here on the west coast, people often get shakes with their burger and fries (it's a meal-deal) and I know that some like to dip their fries in the shake, making it part of the meal (gross), rather than a dessert.

"Dessert Replacement." I love it!
