No recreational sex for poor people!

My mom is infuriating me over FB. She is Catholic & going on about how women's health (birth control) & mammograms etc. shouldn't be covered by government programs or even private insurance. WTMF??

She is like, "some of us don't want to pay for others to have recreational sex. The government should stay out of my wallet."

Her solution? Those too poor should not have sex! We all know how well that works? What about us married wh0res that love recreational sex but want to prevent pregnancy? Hormonal birth control doesn't just treat to prevent pg. there are a host of other ailments that BC helps.

Its amazing to me that these BSC crazy folks like Santorum & the like want the government to butt out about how they spend their money, educate their kids etc. but it's perfectly alright to Fook with half the population's health based on religious beliefs that not everyone adheres to?

I want to break things! I disagree with this BS.

    LOL

Don't forget all those women are prostitutes who want to be paid for having lots of sex.  Does Rush Limbaugh not understand that OCP are taken daily whether or not one's having sex?  Or would that require him having more awareness of females than just *** objects?

  • What the reasoning behind mammograms?  I thought nuns had a higher rate of breast cancer.

That's easy: Because they're women, WHO CARES?

Lol. I just figured that these people that claim God loves us & wants good things for us would probably not be so big on half the world getting screwed.

I can't imagine that God's idea of love is having all these babies born to people who can't feed them or people dying of cancers that are treatable when detected early?

I am seriously LMFAO at "who cares". Obviously a whole lot of folks don't & the people that do are in the minority? Oh well. I care for whatever it's worth.

I believe "the road to perdition" is playing. I will buy the popcorn if you sneak in the fun flask to mix with our coke.

Remember Rush's prescription drug problem? Wanna bet he subsidized it with his insurance plan?

So, to recap, he's pro-cheap pills for recreational use, but anti-cheap pills for preventative health care use.

    This is my siggy.

That's exactly it, they're not okay with half the population getting screwed on the regular, in a way that might actually be fun/pleasurable.

I don't remember previously seeing so obvious an attack on female sexuality and I'm appalled and dumbfounded.  What is so d@mn threatening about our sexuality?!?

I'm going to say it... your mom is a see-you-next-Tuesday that I would glady punch in the face if I ever met her.

The bc thing is bad enough, but MAMMOGRAMS! She better hope to God that someone she loves (without insurance) doesn't die of breast cancer.  Wonder what she'll be thinking then.  Azzhole.

  • Usual lurker here.  Nuns have a higher rate of breast cancer because having a full term pregnancy and breast feeding lower your risk of breast cancer.  (At least that's what I recall from grad school in public health.)  It drives me insane that so many people are so short sighted that they would want to deny preventive measures to those of lower socio-economic status, but then these same people complain when the taxpayers are giving  people food stamps, WIC, or other assistance. I just can't even think about it because it makes me so infuriated.

     ::runs back to lurker status::

It's not just her solution, it is the entire basis of the Catholic doctrine on sexual intercourse. I'm not kidding, it really is the Catholic solution to preganancy - don't have sex. Have you read humanae vitae -that's the whole point.

I don't get what you mother has against mamograms. Why wouldn't private insurance pay for that?

My darling daughter just turned 4 years old.

That's not entirely true.  I married a Catholic - they get better sex education than the majority of public schools and teach natural family planning. But, inside the confines of marriage, they love sex. There is a reason that most Catholic families have a lot of children. Sex is a way to show your love to God by combining in flesh and soul, or something along those lines.

Second - Most Catholic women are okay with birth control not sanctioned by the church. In fact, according to this article http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/04/14/98-percent-catholic-women-birth-control_n_849060.html, 98% of sexually active Catholic women use birth control other than Natural Family Planning.

Third - A majority of Catholic women are okay with funding birth control options for women. My MIL is a very devout Catholic, but believes the whole controversy is ridiculous.

The reason this became such an issue is that Catholic Bishops took issue against it (whom, I might add, are all male). But, since 98% of Catholic women do not follow 'standard protocol', I would suffice to say that most Catholics do like sex and do not automatically follow the 'rules' placed before them. And the majority of Catholic women I have talked to actually support funding birth control.

P.S. I am one of those women who had no option but to go on birth control for non-sexual reasons. I had two large cysts rupture over two months - incredibly painful and a detriment to my health. I was not a slut, thank you very much, Mr. Limbaugh.

Is anyone else sick of hearing Republican commentators claim that their viewers called in and told them that pills only cost pennies a day? I don't know about you guys, but my pills ranged from 35-80 dollars per month, with a valid medical reason and insurance. And, most of the time they were the generic. Pennies my a$$.

  • All of my fam is catholic. We all believe in pre marital hot steamy sex for funsies. And birth control.  And it should be covered.  As should mammograms.  And IVF.  And that's some b.s. about an all male panel in congress discussing our vaginas and uterei.  Eeeek.... Gross.  I say we put together an all female panel and try to mandate vasectomies for stupid men or ban condoms...I.e. the ones on this super PAC ;).

And ppl are so dumb about insurance.  Even if their plan doesn't cover it, we still are all already paying for any/all women's health issues (and any other medical treatment in the history of medicine that takes place) when we pay our premiums.  It all goes Into one big pool.  So to all the hAters who are all "wah I don't wanna pay for...." guess what.... You already are and have been. YWIA. ;). And also, from a $$ standpoint, it's way more cost effective to just freaking cover contraceptives and mammograms. (this topic makes me stabby)

  • Just piping in...in case there are people reading this who really think they CANNOT get birth control for less than $80 a month. Generic BCP, when filled at a grocery store, walmart, etc., is more like $9 a month. So switch to that and no matter who wins this ridiculously insane argument, you'll be able to afford it.

I get stabby hateful feelings when I think about Rush Limbaugh so I'm not going to start talking about him for fear I will start punching things.
