I'm hoping you guys can help me out!
I'm headed for a girls cruise with my mom and sister next week. Carnival's Ecstacy to the Bahamas. It's a first cruise for all of us. I've read a lot on their website, and feel pretty comfortable that I've gotten almost everything figured out.
The one thing NOT figured out is that I'll be 6 weeks pregnant on the cruise. Carnival prohibits women 25+ weeks along from cruising, and requires that women less than that bring a letter from their doctor saying the mother is fit to cruise. I don't have my first appointment until AFTER the cruise. And I'll also only be 6 weeks in; I doubt "they" will even know.
What do you guys think, is this something I should worry about? FWIW, I'm 29, healthy, first pregnancy, no indication of any complications at this time.
Re: Caribbean cruise and early pregnancy
I'd probably give your doc a heads up you're going, but since you won't show until at least 12 weeks, you won't need a note. They wouldn't be able to tell you're pg! Maybe bring some ginger and mints in case you get morning or sea sick.
Oh yeah....I definitely would ask your doc if you can take dramamine in case the other stuff doesnt cut it. I get super seasick anyway cant fathom being seasick while pg
I'd be careful if I were you. As a pregnant woman you are a very delicate flower, and doing anything different - even the slightest change in routine - may cause grave harm to you and your fetus. The cruise line has their policy in place for a reason, and at 19 weeks shy of their requirement, you're cutting it pretty darn close.
I think you're better off locking yourself in your bedroom for the remainder of the pregnancy to ensure absolute control and safety. I recommend the blog The Art of Making a Baby as a helpful resource.
YWIA.
You can also look into Sea-bands.
If you want to be better safe than sorry, call your doctor to ask for a note.
I just peed a little.
That blog is my favorite.thing.ever.
If only she knew I travelled, drank coffee, and had sex during my pg....
