Ryan Air suuuucks

The rest of my trip to Seville was lovely. Now I am back in France and missing how much more food I could get for my money down south. But, on the upside, the clerk at our local health food store noticed we were gone last week and chit-chatted with me for a long time while ringing me up today. Now I feel a little more like a local.

Hope Seville was fun. I've never been! I really need to do a Spain road trip.
Besides being really late the one time I flew with them, my fear of flying was about 100x worse because I kept thinking "For flights this cheap, they have to be cutting corners with maintenance, too, not just service." Don't know if it's true or not, but for me it's not worth the added stress.

I'm going to upset myself if I go into all the details right now, but the beatch at the RA counter tried to tell DD she couldn't take her doll on the plane and basically seemed like she enjoyed tormenting small children.
There were so many tears I ended up foregoing the flight and buying a ticket on another airline.
I fly with DD a lot and no airline has EVER considered DD's doll an extra piece of luggage. WTF??? No airline has ever considered my purse an extra piece of luggage, either. Or made my daughter cry.
I feel like we need to have a traveling in Spain summit, you and I. If you do plan on going to Seville, PM me. I lived there for a year and have been tons of times since.
We're planning a trip to Navarra & the Basque Country in the summer, for our wedding anniversary. That's your neck of the woods, right?
Whaaaaaat??? That is absurd. How big is the doll? I'm picturing something life-sized to be told it counts as luggage!
Yeah. Ryan Air just loves tagging on extra price tags. That's where they make their money. They actually weighed my hand luggage the one time we flew with them.
I am not a fan of Sevilla, but would love to meet up if you get around to Madrid sometime.
Although, we are moving now so it's likely not going to happen.

I hate that they don't shut up at all on the entire flight.
Shoving my purse into my bag is annoying, but comes with the territory.
Making a kid cry over a stuffed animal is ridiculous, unless said stuffed animal needed a seat all his own.

But the doll? Seriously? That's completely ridiculous!
On a related note, I love that some airports have insisted RyanAir allow a carrier-bag from the airport shops in addition! I guess the duty-free stores were pissed about losing business, so I think the airports strong-armed RyanAir into making an exception. I've been wondering if I could go and buy something just or the ag, nd then put my purse in it.
I love RyanAir. And EasyJet and Jet2... basically anyone who makes it possible for me to travel this much. There's no way we could afford it otherwise and it's totally worth the hoop-jumping for me! I'm sorry they made your daughter upset though :-(

Seville is one of the airports who does this and one of the very helpful store clerks advised me to buy a reusable airport shopping bag (1 Euro) to shove my purse, DD's doll and our jackets inside in case Vueling was as strict and crazy as Ryan Air. (This was after we did not get on the Ryan Air flight and had several hours to kill at the airport.) The only thing I was buying at the duty-free was a Chupa-Chups (lollipop) and the clerk said it didn't matter. If they saw the bag, they had to respect it!
As it turns out, Vueling could have cared less and were much friendler about my traveling with a small child than RyanAir was.
And to those who asked, the doll is not life-sized. I am trying to post a pic here of DD dancing with her in Seville. Let's see if it works...

I have the forms. I am trying to formulate exactly what I am going to say. I am not hopeful they will give a sh*t. Also, I doubt they'll give me a refund. If they offer a free flight at a future date, I don't think I would want to take it. This was truly the very worst service I experienced in my life, and I have flown some really craaappy airlines.
I hate Ryanair and Easyjet. And as long as you buy your tickets on time, flying with larger airlines really isn't more expensive.
My ILs fly to Milan a number of times a year and they used to fly RyanAir. They stopped doing that when we booked a ticket for them and they suddenly had a choice of what day/time they wanted to fly, would fly into the city airport instead of the one an hour and a half away, could both take suitcases and carry-ons, get really good assistance at the airport AND didn't have to shove purses into bags etc. The total price for the expensive KLM ticket was about 40 euros a person cheaper than the RyanAir one after you added all of the fees.
Yep, no-one in our family will ever fly RyanAir/Easyjet again unless it's an emergency.

Seriously. We took like a 6 am flight to Paris via jet2 and they were trying to sell us stuff the whole time. It was SOOO annoying. I guess the annoyance was worth the cheap fare. Not sure though.
Did this happen in Seville? Could consumidor in Seville help? I doubt it, since Ryanair probably has their back covered everywhere. However, this is beyond ridiculous.
