Weekly Check-in

How'd everyone do this week?

Question of the week? Since daylight saving time is next Sunday... What is your favorite way to spend the extra hour of evening light? Are you a fan of DLST?

Re: Weekly Check-in

  • I had a good week! Down 3 lbs so I not only met my 10%, but I BEAT it by 1lb!!! YAE!!

Still working at getting official workouts in though...going to try again this week to get my 4 workouts in - for real!

I love DLST! Both times! With the extra hour of light - I hope to be able to get outside and start taking advantage of it...that all depends on the weather though.  Otherwise, just enjoying the fact that spring is almost here!

  • Last week when I weighed myself made 10lbs lost since January. Totally by accident, lol.

I ran 24 miles last week, including wrapping up my speedwork (ran 5 miles at about a 9:13 pace), and a monster long run (which is supposed to be slow, but I was only 10 seconds off my goal race pace).

Usually in the spring I curse my missed hour of sleep and then still have to wait for it to get light enough out in the mornings around 6, 6:30 before I can start running completely outside for the season. At nights we spend a lot of time on our deck, and we're in the process of getting our garden ready for the season too.

  • I lost 2lbs this week, for a total of 21 since December!

Training wasn't great this week I skipped a run and weight lifting. But I did go on an ass kicking 8 mile hike. So 4 workouts plus the hike. This week I really need to get my runs in. I'm really nervous about my 5 mile run. I've never run that far and I'm racing by myself, which I've also never done before. I know it will be good for me but I'm still nervous.

I love the extra sunlight in the evenings. And, it means that spring is coming! Our winters are so grey and gloomy that I'm so ready for spring and summer and all the activities that go with them.

  • I lost 2 pounds last week. I also did that "Fight for Air" climb, I'm pretty proud of myself for that. I wasn't crazy fast or anything, but I think I made decent time for a newly reformed fat chick.

I guess I'm gonna be the party pooper here, I think DLST is an antiquated concept that is totally unnecessary. For a few days when I get up at 5am, it's going to feel like 4am, and I'm going to have to try to get to sleep at what my body thinks is 9pm, which is actually 10, when I already have a hard time falling asleep before midnight. So it makes me a little bit cranky.

  • I have found it hard to get back into my gym routine now that I am back working and work later than I used to. The results are worth it, so I really need to find the time. In the interim I am mkng sure I walk to walk most days.
