Do you do them yourself or pay someone to do it for you? Why? How much does it cost?
Ever since I've been in the US, I pay someone at H&R Block to do them. With XH, it was around $200.
I think this year might be a good idea to pay someone again and hopefully it will be cheaper.
Re: Taxes!
Can you tell me roughly what would be a wrong candidate for something like TurboTax?
(it's only the 3rd time I am doing my taxes in the US, this is why I sound like a clueless adult lol)
*grumble grumble* TN ate my reply.
Mine are pretty straightforward, since I don't own property and don't have stocks. It has handled income from multiple states just fine for me, and I started contributing to a retirement fund this year, so I guess we'll see how that one pans out. I believe it's supposed to be pretty good at all those things--buying/selling property, stocks, changes in filing status, etc. So, unless your situation is really unusual, I think you'd be fine. They also offer you the opportunity to buy audit protection, which means that they'll walk you through the process if you get audited, or something along those lines.
